Photographing your Bokeh

(I put the image through my cad program and draw a grid over the top - then manually count the squares that are in an out of focus. I was slow at first, but now I have got this down to 90 minutes per image - so I am happy) :deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:[/QUOTE]

Keith,

I am so glad you do all the hard work as our great bokeh controller :D

Are you jumping to Sony as an extra camera? I am very temted, but wish for a full frame EVF camera

Beautiful contast in your image image :salute:

Not sure what I am supposed to look for in my pics to qualify for this thread so here goes. Don't even know how to post up pics like you guys either..ha

Nice Bokeh!

. . . . . you are fully qualified for this thread! :D

The method that I use to post photo.
1. Upload to my Flickr account.
2. Choose the size I want to post in Flickr, i.e., using the copy image address function
3. When completing a 'Reply to Thread' I choose the 'Yellow Square with the mountain' Icon at the top of reply box. This open a box where I past in the image address.
4. The comments and image then appear when I submit the reply.

Hope that helps. Thanks for posting and keep 'em coming!

Re: Newspaper Camera

Easy to do, as I just need to open my front door early morning, pick up the newspaper - and take a picture.
Damn. And there I was all this time spending so much cash on photo gear.
You asked for that one, Keith.:D

Nice pic by the way:)

Also by the way, once you get the a55 do tell ...

A very different type of bokeh... ("auto bokeh") ;)

Cooke Kinic f1.5 1"

Wonderful stuff Keith + Dan!!
Klaus

Oh, that's lovely - really turns my crank. Muted color, almost but not quite, black and white. The bit of image in the right corner builds on the vignette.

We really have some winners on this thread.

Again my usual question to the posters - are you printing these?

The rumor that I have bought a Sony a55 is highly exaggerated :D

However, I am giving it some serious thought, for these reasons:

APS sensor, better IQ, especially dynamic range
Fast focusing
Can take legacy lenses, but a smaller selection than my G1
GPS really turns my crank, as I travel a lot.
Panorama mode, as I travel a lot
On board stabilization

On the last point - it is the only reason I am keeping my E-P2, but I find that I never use the darn thing. It is too difficult to operate. So the Sony would replace it. I have two G1s, one of which is not yet out of its plastic bag - I love this camera, can't do without it.

I also have a Ricoh GXR, mainly because I love Ricoh and the technology in this camera amazes me. I expect a lens mount module for it next year - which will be a game changer for me.

All of this raises a serious question - if we all move off micro 4/3, where does this thread go? It won't be immediate, but more and more people may be adopting these other options. I see that we are already missing a large number of bokehgraphs from people who shoot in other formats and think they can't post on this thread.

I thought you might like it.
I'll own up though, I took it on a D700 - 105mm lens at f/4.

Klaus, a beautiful capture with wonderful bokeh from the Steinheil Quinon f1.9 25mm! Very nice work captured with the Cooke Kinic f1.5 1" as well.

There are truly too many lenses and not enough time!
