THis is mainly good news for filmmakers. Zeiss will have their Compact Prime lenses for m43 (e.g. AF100). Don't expect any consumer lenses soon.

Uwe,
Can you elaborate on why this isn't good news for still photographers? I'd look forward to some M43 dedicated Zeiss primes, having shot Contax for many years before they went belly up.

Zeiss lenses announced for this format are made for professional videographers. They cost many thousands of dollars.

Cine lenses are not really what you want for stills:

- Expensive (3-4K), actually quite cheap compared to other cine lenses :)
- bulky

Still lenses is not what you want for movies

- bad follow focus
- no smooth focusing

As it seems right Zeiss only plans to produce the cine lenses for m43 for now. The filmmakers love it.
