Two Soviets compared

I got my copy of a Jupiter-8 & pitted it against my Industar-61 LD on a G1. Let folks judge for themselves.

1. Industar-61LD @ f4

2. Jupiter-8 @ f4

I took a crop of the upper right corner of each - Industar on left:

They were shot at minimum focus distance, the Jupiter actually focuses a bit closer than the Industar.

Thanks for the test! Both lenses are looking plenty sharp to me :)

Wow!

I would award it to the Jupiter, narrowly.

I am also impressed that the Jupiter has the higher magnification, in view of the closer focus, despite the wider view angle of a 50mm lens?

I got a load of Industar L/Z's for a bargain price, direct from an eBay vendor. I wish I could get to testing them.

Thanks for the incentive to do so!

Thanks guys. I also think the Jupiter is slightly better but by very little.

I don't have a LZ Pat but I do have several other close focus lenses. My Vivitar 24/2.8 yields very sharp images to 1:5.
