Fun with the Olympus OMD

Actually my Pen Lite E-PL5 with the 25/1.4 "Summilux" from PanaLeica. Stopped way down (4.0 to 8) for the bright sunshine at the beach. Spring's about over. The water's still a bit cold for swimming but the sand is warm. (Eat your hearts out, Minnesotans, but we will envy you come August.)

Incidentally, the 25 makes lovely contrasty images, but there is a lot of uncorrected barrel distortion. The in camera jpegs on Olympus are corrected, but the information path from Panasonic to Olympus to Capture One is too long, so raw files when rendered don't yet fix this. It doesn't matter in most pictures (like the first one), but is really annoying when the sea horizon line tries to pretend that it shows the curvature of the earth. In the second picture above, however, the barrel distortion brings in the activity in the upper right corner a bit. I like it.

Taylor, the girl in the green was, oddly enough, the only one not wearing Chuck Taylors, so she jumped out of the photo!

A few snaps from the TUTANKHAMUN exhibition world tour, currently in Amsterdam.

Needless to say all these artefacts are, actually life-sized, reproductions: still, the amount of detail and craftsmanship is breathtaking.
However, the real thing is in Caïro ...

All the best.
