A portrait from around Christmas in a French restaurant.
(Not as sharp as I wished but I like the movement and background)

Now, that could make a very nice bokehgraph portrait

I knew you would say that , but this one is for all the people who don't look at the bokehthread regulary.

Also I don't want tro overflow the bokehthread with contributions.

Re: Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Mirror lenses have a couple of disadvantages, but at 590g, 97mm length and 81mm diameter, there aren't many alternatives available that will fit in the same, little bag. When using a tripod, I've found that a fluid head is the best alternative for this lens, particularly when taking photos of moving targets. Gives me much better control than a ballhead.

Ahhh Scary! It reminds me of a caricature from Pink Floyd's "The Wall".

Here's me being impressed (easily so?) with another Canon wide. This time the FD 20mm F/2.8. All at f/2.8 (just some silly test images on the way to the one dollar shop.) and the first time for me to use this lens:

Here's a 100% crop with only the ACR default sharpening (almost nothing) applied:

That's an ice storm rolling in BTW and it must really be cold because now 8hrs later, my computer's ambient temperature is 9c with a space heater going and turned up high, in the room. I'm also wearing two jackets and have a heavy wool blanket wrapped around my legs. Brrrr....

    Here comes the flood

Melting snow and rainfall made a small river grow large. There's usually no water in these fields. The small stream lies on the other side of the road on the horizon in the bottom picture.

    Hi Tesselator,
Your Canon FD 20mmm F/2.8 appears to be another great performer like the Canon 24mm F/2.0. I have not been to Nagoya since 2005 when Aichi Prefecture hosted a world Expo back then. During my brief visit to Nagoya, I visited some great camera stores around Sakae-cho. It was a lot of fun seeing many new and used lenses at these "candy" stores.

Yeah, The shops here are nice! A constant turnover of used lenses! :-)

And many little shops in the most unexpected locations! A few months ago for example, I found that the one-hour photomat in my local grocery store has a cabinet full of used lenses. I've cherry picked it thrice and it just keeps replenishing itself. My kinda majic! :-p

Here's a few shots all taken between 10pm and 1am - hand-held. It was my last fling with my x-current copy of the FD 85/1.2L just before I shipped it off to live with it's new owner. All at F/1.2 twenty four hours after that ice storm rolled in...

I think some of these may suck but I'm too tired to distinguish which ones they are. I'll prolly wake up tomorrow and say: OMG, I posted that?!?! Hehee :-)

How often do you come to Japan, or do you live here?

    A friend passed away

Today in the morning our little cute dog Lulu passed away. Death came without announcement, fast and took her away without any pain without any harm.
Our eyes are full of sorrow and tears, our hearts full of pain.
This was the last picture from her i took yesterday evening.

Klaus... as a life-long lover of dogs, I know exactly how hard this is for you and I just want to send my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. When the time comes that I have to say goodbye to my pup (avatar), it will be one of, if not the most difficult, days of my life. So my heart goes out to you, friend. I'm so sorry to read the news. We are amazingly blessed to have these wonderful dogs in our lives; the price we must pay, however, is that they are only with us for such a short time. I pray...may God bless and comfort you... it's a very dark day, I know.

Sometimes, I wonder why I carry with me a camera. People seem to be very happy with their mobile phones

    GH1 with Zeiss CY 85mm f/1.4

This is a crop of a photo taken a couple of hundred meters away, from one of the sky-train stations in Bangkok, into a very dark hall with only stage lighting. Jpeg from camera. No pp except sharpening for web.
    I don't care what gear I have.

    Here's a couple of views through an imperfect-yet-endearing Kern Switar 25mm f1.4 ...
    Very nice, Ishani!

Uwe - Excellent flowing lines in the dune image.

Sapphie - A fine capture with a great lens... makes me wish it was not -30 degrees C here in Ottawa

Most of recent photography consists of rather pedestrian snaps of my daughter but I particularly enjoy this one:

    Olympus E-PL1 with Super-Takumar 50/1.4 at f2, ISO 400.

How often do you come to Japan, or do you live here?
    Hi Tessealator,
These two images are my favorites. I enjoy visiting Japan once or twice a year. Some years ago, it was most delightful to visit a remote part of Nagano to see "snow monkeys". They were bathing in hot springs on a snowy day. Needless to say, I captured some endearing images of the snow monkeys in their natural habitat. One of these days, I wish to spend more time in Kyoto, especially in the winter. I once stayed in a beautiful inn in Kyoto where John, Robert, and Ted K. all had stayed.
