One photo stays in my memory - is B&W fishing reel by Rich!

Pelao.......very nice imagery......I like how the texture changes as you move from shoreline to inner reef to outer reef to horizon (and then sky).

    So....business trip, you say??

    Thank you Rich.

It really was a business trip. We were in Pasadena, then took a quick spin to the beach for a walk. One of the joys of M4/3: I was able to pack the camera and still be certain of enough quality - at least from the camera and lens. The photographer is another matter...

This one was taken at the same time:

The lines are straight now, but I'll try and see what a little tapering does to the image.

Thank you, and thanks Rich. Coming from you guys that means a lot.

Um, the horizon thing. You see, we had just been for a great lunch, with some very nice seafood and wine. maybe too much wine. Hence the tilt. If I fixed it in post, then the shot would lose some authenticity.

    OK. I will fix it.

Yes, it's the 7-14 at 9mm. That lens in combination with the flip-out screen has given me some unique photo opportunities.

Re: Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

My panning experiments with the GH1 have now come so far at the hit rate is more or less the same as with the D300. Time to get a GH2 and the 45-175mm plus the 100-300. Still I'm under half the weight of the D300 plus 80-200 but with twice the reach

GH1 with OM Zuiko 50mm f/2.0 macro @ f/16 and 1/200s. I wanted to go slower, but the Zuiko doesn't stop down further. An ND-filter would be useful.

    I don't care what gear I have.

I had a very long day at assorted Bangkok restaurants last week. Here is the most spectacular, on the sixtysomething floor, outdoor, and this is in the middle of the monsoon season, so we had less that 15 minutes between showers, to set the table, get the food in place and take a couple of photos. No time for lighting, just the candle on the table, so I went for 0.8s and asked them not to move. They didn't

    GH1 with Pana 7-14 @ 8mm, f/5.6 and 0.8s

    I don't care what gear I have.

The table cloth is noisy, and the sensor of the GH1 is really stretched to the limit here. It looks more noisy than it is though. The little lighting that was there was pink and blue, which adds to the problem. The D300 might have done better, but I don't have an ultra WA for the Nikon, and the camera had to be mounted more than two meters above the floor, pointing down to get the view. More or less impossible without an articulated LCD.

I'm in awe of all the superb examples of the craft which have been posted above. Now for something completely different - a couple of routine shots from a car show. No claim for artistic merit, just a record of 'Chick Magnets then and now'. May bring back memories for some....
