Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Thanks John,

the shot is developed from raw using Olympus Studio, and further enhanced using Lightzone...

I think a large factor is the 20mm f1.7 - it's a beautifully sharp lens!

Cheers

Another glorious tree shot, I love the colour and tonality from the E-P1, combined with the sharp performance of the 20mm f1.7... quite delightful!

Another of my 'favourite trees' on the way home this morning.

And finally, passed this lovely scene...

Keith, Your photos are amazing. This one is my favorite, but I really like the sculpture, too.

mregnier, Welcome to the forum. That is a very interesting photo of the pumpkin. I was drawn back by the look.

Brian, The photo with the tractor has beautiful color and light.

Mdriscoll, The color in your apple shot is just so right on.

I'm so beautiful!

I know, I've cut his legs but I had to do it to give the tail the significance it deserves. And I did without NR as I thought it adds to the atmosphere. This is my Bearcot Shar Pei John Patrick McEnroe at sunset, shot with the G1 and the 45-200 kit lens. He's a true poser, isn't he?

Thanks Don, I've gotta say, I'm loving this combination!

Brian, This is the first time I see some of that "swirly bokeh".

This was discussed much regarding cine lenses, c-mount lenses, etc. Some even attributed it to lack of coverage.

I have see the same in one or two shots from kweide (Olympus 7-14).

I think it is from the thick filter stack in the m4/3rds body (sensor).

Interesting.

That's strange - I'm looking really hard, and I can't see any 'swirly bokeh'?

Have you got an example of the bokeh on those lenses? so I can see what you mean?

Cheers

Still looking for "swirly bokeh" I took a shot this afternoon in the car park of my local bakery :

Brian, get a bit closer (closest focus distance).

Here (Macro Switar 36mm on G1):

edges of the frame shows bits of it.

No swirls here (Noflexar on a modified E-410 without any AA/IR cut filter):

None here either (A custom made 12.5 f/1.4 on G1):

but there is some here (corners, same gear as above):

No swirls (Zuiko Macro 38/3.5 (pen F) on G1):

Hardly any swirl (Som-Berthiot 25/0.95)

This is the best swirl lens I have (a 35mm f/1.2 Canon c-mount lens on G1) and it is very obvious:

Same set-up (35/1.2), same place, slightly different magnification, backround and light.

Here are more old swirl captures:

first one (Canon 50/0.95 on Epson R-D1s, colors are not real):

the same scene, similar magnification and same light (Nikon 50/1.2, D300, colors are close to real)- almost no swirl:
