Yeah, poor me doesn't own any Leica glass at all. I think I have a Leitz microscope objective tho. :p
*sigh* ... no Leica glass. So which Nikkor are you using, the old marco or the newer 105mm?

Gary

PS- I haven't any Leica glass either. There are some excellant photos posting in the Leica M thread ... I sorta sneak in and peek around.

Thanks guys!

The lens is the Nikkor 105/2.8D The "D" gives away which model it is.

Of the AF and the AF-D the only difference is the Distance sensor used for working with Nikon's 3D Matrix metering of the 90's.

The AI-s MF version 105/2.8 only does 1:2 without extension tube. And it uses a rather large tube too... The PK-11 extension tube is long and bulky. Believe it or not the 105/2.8D has been discontinued (2007) while the older AI-s MF version is still in active production. LOL

The more expensive VR version uses the Nano Crystal coating over the 105/2.8D's enhanced SIC coating and is fitted with a silent wave motor as well as VR of course. It's also a new design with a 14/12 arrangement and 9 blades instead of the 9/8 with 7 blades which actually turns out to be worse if you're interested in sharpness, micro-contrast and that sort of thing. Thus one actually pays more for a slightly worse image here - as is sometimes the case with new vs. old lenses. :p I haven't aggressively tested this out yet but on the upside the Nano-Coating ought to all but completely eliminate ghosts and flares. Though I have to admit that the D version really almost has none itself:

Directly into the sun I get shots like this regularly:

1/4000s, F/2.8, ISO 160, Nikkor 105/2.8D, GH1

Love abounds!

My youngest daughter with her first baby, 2 day old little "Haven". She cannot express the love and wonder she feels for this precious child.

Cool bridges! Especially like the last one!

Here's a few from the most recently acquired OM 50/1.4 (all at somewhere between f/1.6 and f/1.8 on the GH2):
