G1 Firmware update

This is a hectic update day....

First, Lightroom 2.2, with full raw support

Now, the G1 firmware (downloaded; will upgrade the camera as soon as I´ve walked the dog..:p)

To top it all up, there´s a new Mac OS update (10.5.6) as well. I haven´t the nerve to do that until I´ve checked these other updates thoroughly, and made a current clone of the system disc.....

This is nice...and it appears there are some updates to flash as well. I've been getting some bizarre results with flash using adapted lenses, maybe this will fix it...

I ran the update earlier today without apparent problems.

Haven't tried any of the "new" features yet. The old features seem to work fine.

I did all three upgrades today (G1, LR2.2, and OS 10.5.6). Everything seems fine so far.

Brave soul. I did the Mac update and held my breath for a 1/2 hour. i finally have this machine humming at warp speed after some real issues from a download from Adobe back in April. Everything seems fine but waiting for the other shoe to drop. BUT I have backup

I know that feeling and I breathed a little easier after importing some G1 files into LR2.2 and then made some prints. It is usually printer driver conflicts with a new OS that I worry about most, but so far its  with my Canon 6100. Also a relief that LR2.2 is behaving with the new OS upgrade. There was one report so far of some 3rd party monitor calibration software not working in 10.5.6 and I'm sure that other glitches will pop up sooner or later.

I did all 3 updates and haven't had any problems.

In case anyone is wondering, even though I downloaded the updater from Panny's English web page, it still ran in Japanese and my Japanese G1 still has no language setting menu. I was hoping they would smarten up and put the language selection setting back in, but I guess not. I don't know why they decided to do that, but it means that I'll certainly never buy another Panasonic camera in Japan. And I'm not the only who feels that way either.

yehh...despite my ch@LLenged tec. abilities, I installed the G! update. The first try was with a virgin format card...then someone said that you need one photo on the card plus the file...ah! supreme success...

The continuous focus assist is a terrific improvement...when using Legacy Lenses.

The AE lock on live view, now with the spot meter (with a fast lens)...

...turns the Little camera into a formitable instrument ...

carry on mates.

I did it with a newly formatted card without the one photo. What you do need is a fully charged battery. The improvements are very nice.

I Did it with the excellent instructions given to me by someone to update the pancake lens.

Now then, who could that have been?

Hi,

I saw the G1 body update, downloaded it and managed to successfully install it into the camera (via the SD card).

The lens update, however, seems to be another matter. Is that for the G1 as well? I downloaded it, put it onto the SD card as before but when I repeated the procedure with the body firmware nothing happened.

Reading the website it looked like the firmware was only for the body. Am I wrong here?

Thanks.

Peter,
Yesterday's update was for the G1 body only. There is an update for the Oly pancake lens, but it is a different file. I'm not sure what lens you were trying to update.

Thanks Cindy. That's what I thought as well and that it didn't apply to the G1's 12-45mm kit lens. It's just that as I read some of the postings here on a thread marked G1 firmware update I wondered whether the lens was also to be affected by the firmware since some of the others had mentioned the update kicking in.

I had the same problem, trying to find an update for the PL 14-150. No joy so far, perhaps there is no firmware update other than for the 25mm f2.8 (which I've installed)

Kind Regards

Brian
