=> by the end of January it will be sub $600. Will the GH2 keep working until that time? Most certainly!

Interesting!

Living in London I don't know where you'd buy one. The big chains, Jessops and Jacobs have gone pop. They drove out most of the independents so, apart from one or two stores near the British Museum, all that remains are the departmental stores (who really specialise in pots and pans). Or maybe the computer stores, but they won't have staff who can explain the ins and outs of m4/3.

There may be camera shops in some provincial towns - but I doubt it.

I think you have some good choices in the UK if you buy online. Ffordes seem to have the GX-7 in stock now (GBP828.99) and they are a reliable company. Robert White's don't sell Panasonic but they carry a lot of other great quality photo brands. I've bought a number of items from each of the above (and I don't even live in the UK any more...). Also, don't forget that we are in the EU and there are other good suppliers elsewhere in Europe. I live in Austria now but regularly buy my gear not just in Vienna but also in Prague, Bratislava, from German online suppliers and from the two UK outfits above. Of course it would be better if one could always try everything in a shop before buying but I gave up on that a long time ago; I find reading a forum like this the best alternative.

+1 to what Baudolino said.

Use this (for example) to check EU wide prices: Skinflint Price Comparison EU

There are several such search engines for each country/region.

While I would love to buy a GX7 at sub $600 price, I do not believe the GX7 dropping so low, so quickly. I see this a well positioned camera and the prices will remain closer to the current MSRP longer than 5 months.

We shall see (very soon). :)

Sorry to be so slow to respond. We were having dinner.

What I meant was the lack of shops. Places where you could hold and try before you try.

The problem I have is when the price of the camera I now want, I do not want when the prices tank, because there is something so much better that was announced at that time.

Of course, that is very different than venturing into predictions of "holding its value" (in terms of $). :)

Reaction to Sony's price drop on the NEX-6? Or maybe the 20mm kit was selling to well by comparison...
