Very nice beach scenes Amin and Cindy. I'm looking forward to escaping the snow and doing something similar in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Carl. I bet Amin was a little warmer than I was. What a winter! I hope your beach is warm and I'll look forward to the photos.

Re: Black & White pics, show yours !!!

Thanks, Carl. I'm finally warming to the "poor girl's" Noctilux....er, Nokton. It is a lens that takes some getting used to. I think I like it better on the G1 than on my M8 or M4-P. I can get a much higher number of perfect focus shots with the G1. The fact that it becomes a 100 f/1.1 if not a bad thing for a portrait lens.

    Hello to everyone,
I have been browsing this site for ages and the quality of photos are outstanding, so i have a few to share that i would love advice on as i got an Olympus E520 with two kit lenses and finding that a DSLR is another world from my trusty old Pentax K1000.

    Keep posting those pics....

Thanks, Cindy. Here's another from the same trip. I converted the image to B&W using picnik for the first time (now available for free through Flickr). Not a bad free software, although I much prefer Photoscape.

Yup that was a lucky one, I was just casually shooting away testing the lens but i can say this 105 nikkor is a great combi with G1. Glad you like it.

Thanks, Amin. We have this Asiago palm tree planted in a pot sitting on our front porch. It was raining and I was in the process of getting rid of some of my less used lenses (selling them on eBay), so I took some random shots with various lenses hoping that they would help me decide which ones to keep or sell. It turns out that this lens will not be a keeper (although I like its very compact size). I have three other 50mm lenses that are better performers.

Lovely images, Devon. Your school looks like lots of fun (compared to mine!)

The black and white treatment works very well, as does the impression of movement.

    Well done

    Thanks, Cindy.

If I'm not mistaken, the Raynox HD6600 is a WA converter (I recently sold mine - old version DCR-6600PRO). I'm starting to think that I should not have done it.

Thank you Leica 77. I can't seem to keep this lens off my camera In addition to being razor sharp the 45 2 exhibits no CA in shots where I might expect it could pop up and also no significant edge/corner distortion. Just an outstanding lens. The 35 and 90 are also excellent.

I've been really impressed by the results you've gotten out of this lens as well. If I had a budget it would definitely be near the top of my list.

Just one more quick panorama from this last week to share.
    Olympus E-P1 with Zuiko 17mm
    iso200 at f/16
45 shots total. Nine wide and five deep.

If you'd like take a look at the full size (actually half size due to flickr size restrictions) version,
    http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/...082a6016_o.jpg

Increasingly I am finding that the 17mm f/2.8 and FD 50mm f/1.4 take care of nearly all my photographic needs day to day.

Devon, Fantastic picture. I took a look at the Flicker picture and I'm wondering if that is an Angel in the upper left center area of the clouds?

Increasingly I am finding that the 17mm f/2.8 and FD 50mm f/1.4 take care of nearly all my photographic needs day to day.
Its magic resides in the fact that you've "wrapped" it nicely with the wall each side, well done.

I found the same when travelling - a Pentax K10 (back then), and the equivalents of a 32mm and 105mm lenses were the ideal companions. Actually I'm sorry I sold these two lenses as they were pancakes and ideal for short trips.
Images taken with this combo are here, if anyone's interested:
