I used to love that lens on the DMR and today assembled the 4 adapters to try this mythical macro lens on the G1. In spite of its age it is still widely used in the motion picture industry. Contrast is lower than in modern lenses, which can easily be increased in post-processing. It is an APO design, a rarity 50 year ago, has a tripod attachment and keeps good sharpness up to f/32. This is a great advantage for macro work where good DOF is needed, something that is missing in many modern macro lenses
Here what it looks like on the G1:
Kilfitt Macro Kilar 90mm/2.8 on the G1 - Adapters:
1) Lens Head with tripod attachment to camera adapter
2) Kilfitt to Leica R
3) Leitz 22228 (Leica R to M)
4) Leica M to G1
Phalaenopsis Orchid - ISO=100 - 1/4 @ f/32 - Raw Therapee
