The first "official" statement was made by Luc Elie of Panasonic France in an interview with the French trade magazine www.photobusiness.fr. The original interview (in French) can be found here.
The camera will be announced in Septermber at the IFA in Berlin (Septermber 4-9), the world's largest Consumer Electronics trade fair, and it will not be an update of an existing camera.
For MFT, Panasonic does not want to come out with regular upgrades of existing cameras but rather bring out new models to go alongside the existing ones. He is talking of an MFT development platform within Panasonic that will be the base for more and different new cameras to come very soon.
