One (predictable) modification to my baseplate: I used a spiral saw to cut a slot under the front edge of the tank so that liquids leaking around the axle don't get into the motor, but drain through the slot into a dishcloth placed under the baseplate. The negatives look just like any other colour negatives and are drying.

I really must pull out the SWC and do some shooting with it again.

Re: More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

Ancient Nikonos with 35 mm lens. Think the film was a Kodak 800. I don't like it as much as the Fuji 800 npz. My kids in the pool. I desaturated the blues in the shot of my daughter so it appears as if she is floating. The reds scanned this way in the first photo. I left them pretty much alone because my wife likes the red in our daughter's hair. The second shot I increased the blues to give the photo a bit of depth.

I recently purchased my first interchangeable lens, 35mm rangefinder film camera (a Voigtlander Bessa R2a). Shot my first roll with Ilford Delta 100. Went to my usual places for test shots. While I was at it, I took similar photos with my Fuji X100. I'll post the companion shot (converted to B&W) on the Fuji forum here, if you are interested in comparing the two images.

Bessa R2a, Zeiss 35mm f2 Biogon, Ilford Delta 100, lab scan, additional B&W processing with Topaz.

Shot with a 40 year old Leica SLR...a real pleasure to use.

    Leicaflex SL2, 50mm Summicron, Ilford Delta 100.

One more from the SL2. This was the first roll of film I put thru this camera. I forgot there were some early shots from this past winter. I don't shoot film as often as I should.

    All: Voigtländer Perkeo II, Tri-X

    • Processed in a Rondinax-60 daylight developing tank.
    • Scanned with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 pre-AI fitted to the Leica M-P, using a Beseler 23C 6x6 negative carrier as a mask on a flat panel light box.
    • Inversion and adjustment in Lightroom 6.1.

Film scan from my archives of 1980-1990 film.
This could be from my Olympus OM4 days, most likely the 40mm f2 or possibly even Leica R.

Whitsunday Islands at sunset, Film scan from OM4, lens ? - I can't recall.
Scanner is a Minolta DiImage 5400 MkII

It was a fair climb up the hill.
That bar between the islands goes underwater at high tide.
You don't want to get caught on the island to the right or you are stuck there for the night.

I don't know why, but something on this system rolled my last two posts into one, even though they had nothing to do with one another. ????
I've separated them now, and added another picture.

Last Wednesday was my birthday. Such a crazy, busy week—this was the only photograph I made all week. Plopped the camera on the kitchen counter with the self timer on, flash, done. It gives me a chuckle...

Yeah, I'm the guy on the right. :-)

Re: More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

Photo of my mom and dad in 1959 or 1960, before I was born in 1961. Don't know who the photographer was or what camera he / she used. All I know is that my mom gave me a bunch of Kodachrome slides and asked me to scan them. I scanned them on the Nikon 9000 Coolscan scanner and then forwarded the photo to family members. I fiddled with the blues and yellows (think I could have bumped the yellows a bit). Regardless, I love this photo of my parents.

I've been experimenting with Tri-X @400 in HC-110 (1:49 - easier to measure than 1:47 and effectively the same). 8 minutes at 20ºC in the motorised Rondinax:

Has anyone tried the monobath developer? http://shop.new55.net/collections/fr...bath-developer

I'm tempted to give it a try to start developing my own film, since I already have the reels and stainless tank already.

Anyway, got to take the Rollei SL66 with me to our camping trip:

Re: More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

I have made the monobath developer according to Qualls' original recipe. It can work, and do so very well, but there are some problems. Most important, it causes surge marks across the film from each sprocket hole. I could only get round it by using a Rondinax so the marks would run lengthways along the film border. If you go to Flickr and search for the group 'Monobath' you'll see examples of the striping I'm talking about, and you'll see some decent stuff. This is developed in the monobath:

Re: More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

I've got to try the monobath at some point. Pulled out the SX-70 a week or so ago and carried it on a walk about the neighborhood...

all: Polaroid SX-70 + Impossible Project 600 B&W (round frame)

I used a film plane mounted ND filter gel (also from Impossible Project) to use this film in the SX-70. It's probably the most seamless way to use the camera with 600 film, although it's a bit fussy to install.

Re: More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

I decided to do some 4x5 today, but lacked a model so I ended up using a tape measure and some guesswork to do a self-portrait. As I was developing a pair of negatives, our member of parliament (we have a federal election next month) knocked on the door. I knew him long before he first was elected, so I invited him into the darkroom and he watched while his handlers fumed outside. He stayed to see the negatives come out of the tank, and that might just have been the best part of his day (he does 200 doorsteps a day at 2 minutes each!)

Chris, every shot of yours has 3D all over the subjects
Do you shoot your portraits with aperture wide open? Any special focusing aids for Pentax 645N or Hasselblad 500?

Wide open, and with a monopod indoors as even with ISO400 films, I'm at 1/15 or 1/30 in the light at the nurses' station.
