I've admired this thread and the photos in it for a long time. I don't have anything to match the calibre of your posts, but I'm wondering if you could take a moment to comment on an alternative process I've been working on. It happens to involve a shot of a tree, so technically eligible. I won't describe the process but instead, would appreciate your honest reaction.

Image A, a fairly typical (for me) conversion:



Image B, same capture with a few changes to the process:

Rob, I like all the images...but the sepia toned with the light shaft is to me the best. Charles

Unidentified tree in St. Lucia, West Indies. This was taken in the very north of the island during the dry season when many of the trees loose their leaves.

Wow. I can't believe I missed such an awesome thread for more than a year! Trees are one of my favourite subjects, and there are some stunning photos of them here.
