Herewith, three of my five Swedish beauties. The 553ELX and 503CWD were either unavailable, too shy or too haughty to make an appearance with this group.

    From left to right:
    Miss 503CXi, in classic chrome, with a 100mm f3.5 CFi lens, a PM-5
prism finder and a chrome A-12 film back

Miss 501CM, in classic chrome, with a 50mm f4 CFi lens, a classic
chrome waist level finder and a chrome A-12 film back (she was my first and will always be my favorite)

    Miss 503CW, dressed in black, with a 60mm f3.5 CFi lens, a PM45
prism finder, CW winder and a black A-12 film back

I should have insisted that they remove their lens hoods before taking this photo, but some women (and men) feel absolutely naked without their hats.

    Haha! Married with two kids!

My wife tolerates my collection, and actually likes a few of them too especially some of my older cameras, I did consider selling the anolog hassy once, (when getting the H4D-40 for the studio) SHE talked me out of it

I think maybe because I use a lot of them, she sees the joy I get from tthem, and she enjoys the prints I make in the darkroom, when I get the time..

    Lucky man I know

No, she is a local young lady who was kind enough to spend a day with me doing personal work for ideas, and for some big prints for the studio window

I am 45, my wife 34.. the young lady is only 18.

Whew, Nathan! That's one heck of a collection of cameras! Very nice indeed.

My current small obsession is this 1941 Robot II:

It's a neat little lump of clockwork and metal that feels right and does its specialty very nicely.

These are a couple of snaps of the original 1938-1939 brochure for the Robot II that a fellow Robotnik sent me:

    Fun stuff! :-)

    Re: Portraits of Your Gear

Some time ago my daughter-in-law, a lawyer, called me and asked if I had any interest in some old camera equipment her father bought while in Korea. She said she was going to give it to Goodwill and asked if I might want it. Of course, I am always interested in camera equipment, so I said, "yes". The attached photo is what she gave me, and, at the time, I had no idea what it was. Soon I found out and am keeping it for my grandchildren when the get old enough to appreciate it.

    Re: Portraits of Your Gear

Greg, that is a pretty amazing find--those Korean camera companies sure knew what they were doing. I hope your grandchildren can appreciate it. I work with college students and a photography teacher once told me that when she showed old film cameras to her students, they were simply disinterested. But when she showed them an old digital camera, that were just blown away. Now, that does not mean we don't have students working in film, but their baseline knowledge and experience with film cameras are very different.

I guess what I am saying is if your grandkids don't get it, I am willing to help you out--what are friends for?

You are absolutely right. They (two boys) may be better off with the funds from the sale of the equipment in their college fund. Who knows!

Hmmm....it appears that my camera (above) will be immortalizing the end of the V-system.

Found this by chance when I did a Google search for an image of a plain, black 503cw with WL finder.
