I've been very enamoured of the 6X12 crop for the past year or so, all my latest work has been with this ratio in mind.
The image below was taken in January '06 at dawn. The location is Beinn A' Mhheadoin (Pronounced Benevean) in the Highlands of Scotland, near Loch Ness. I went with my wife for a short weekend break just before our daughter was born, it was to be our last vacation on our own before retirement! As such I only went out to photograph once and at dawn.
I've never quite liked the image. Something about the geometry just didn't quite work for me.
Today I thought about going back to this image with the 6X12 ratio and for the first time I'm 100% happy with it.
It's often interesting to go back to old photos with a new mindset...
