Equine photography: Finding my style

In the first example I choose to minimalize the interaction with the owner to not distract from the horse. The feedback on the results was very positive. On a technical note, the last one with the feeding hand was coincidently shot wide open at f/1.8. I love this glass, Zeiss 135 f/1.8.

As for foals, in this example I chose a technique I used before. To isolate the foal's head in front of the mother, using her as a textural backdrop not only for aesthetic reasons but also because this is the foal's "sweet spot".

All pics shown here are not yet final print results. They are quick developed for conceptual reasons and sharing the ideas.

Loving your shots Georg.
While not my specialist topic, we have mares and foals outside the kitchen window, about 15 feet away, and they are gorgeous. I end up capturing them on film for the stud-farm.
After being in Europe for 6-7 weeks, it is nice to be home and able to go mingle with them. I did just that this afternoon, they are very therapeutic.
I'm sure I'll grab some more at the urge takes me, and will post them as well.
Sony NEX7 with the kit 18-55, at the 55 end. F5.6 in aperture priority mode IIRC.
