Just really enjoyed these, Uwe. I think #3 above and the last are my favorites but liked all of them--compositions appealed to me. Did you realize you mistyped Betty Jane on the last two frames--G instead of J?

    Yes/No. I expected a "J' but from the writing I thought it to be a "G'.

    Thanks.

Uwe, the first Betty Jane shot is really nice. Starting to make the metal flow.

Just a very ordinary scene. Working late and the aircraft are cranky. My little mule (1942 Clarkat B heavy) reflects the dusk and is the only thing in the hangar running well.

    Re: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

My Bimmer. I have dreamed of owning a BMW coupe since I was about 15 years old. Always ended up buying something more practical.

Next year I hit the big 6-0. Figured if I don't get one soon, I may never get one. So a year ago I started looking (and looking and looking). I quickly discovered there are not many used RWD BMW coupes with a manual transmission here in Alaska. Mostly AWD (automatics), which makes sense, considering our long and snowy winters.

I found this car two weeks ago (2004 325Ci with the Sport package). Bought it. In the past week, I've put about 1,000 miles on it....driving the few good, winding roads we have here in southcentral Alaska (over and over again). The forecast is for snow next week, so it's going into storage on Monday. It won't be back on the road again until next May.

I'm looking forward to a few good road trips in the summer of 2013.

    Re: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I posted a link to the Mullin Museum elsewhere, but thought I'd put it here for any car nuts that might[ve missed it.

No Beemers there, but I went to this museum recently: Collection - Cars - Mullin Automotive Museum: Celebrating the Art Deco Movement

A really amazing collection. Some restored; some original. One that a docent told me was worth 40 million dollars. (Maybe "worth" should be in quotes; but it was sure beautiful.)

If you're in SoCal on a day it's open (only two Saturdays a month, it seems), it's worth a visit.

I tried not to intrude as, after all, being laid off in favor of new technology is a private matter. However, he was muttering something about the relative prices of hay and avgas.

Some of you may have seen the first picture which I posted a couple weeks ago on the Fun with film (other the Leica M) thread. I drove by this plane again today and the covers on the engine and windshield had been removed, so I took a few more shots.

Spring is slowly coming to Alaska.....maybe by May 1st most of the snow will be gone, a winter's worth of sand and gravel will be cleared off the roads and I'll finally get my Bimmer out of storage. I sure hope so!

On the topic of automobiles.....I've been enjoying the videos about mostly classic cars and their owners on the Petrolicious site:

    Videos

They recently posted this interview with a photographer who does a lot of car photography and I thought some of you might be interested:

I know many GetDPI members are also "gear heads" and I've really enjoyed seeing Jorgen's photos of car racing in Asia.
