    Thanks Jorgen!

So, on a completely unrelated topic, I have been thinking about life, and the possibility of inhabiting other bodies. Given a choice, I am leaning towards being a horse, and not this kind ....for the following reasons

Worse lives could be lived than to be a horse well-loved and tended to by a beautiful human woman!

Here are some of mine, taken with 5D. All are from around Trondheim, Norway, except #1 (Stockholm, Sweden) and #6 (Leksand, Sweden):

Thanks! We moved here from Sweden in 2004 and love it. I think it's a paradise for photography, well all of Norway really. Are you from Trondheim (I see you don't live here now)?

Helena, wonderful shots, please keep them coming! And I agree with you, Trondheim is a very photogenic city, I always return with (I believe) interesting images.

Scott, nice series! I particularly like the last two.

Here's a recent shot taken while evaluating the new 100mm macro L lens. It is phenomenally sharp in the center, even outresolving my reference 100mm Apo-Macro-Elmarit R, but with a somewhat uneven falloff near the edges. Great colour and flare resistance and useful (sometimes) IS.

Re: How about more and more fun with Canon...

Some great images here! Inspired me to pull out the Canon 5D this weekend....it's been neglected recently while I played with some newly acquired film cameras. Here are a couple of shots from yesterday.....images themselves are nothing special I'm afraid....certainly not compared with those posted above. We are in that ugly season between winter and spring here. Everything is just gray and dirty....until all the old snow melts away and the green of spring finally arrives (late May).

The first image was taken with the 24-105L...the Alaska Railroad freight yards and one of my favorite subjects. The second was taken with the 300mm f4 L (including a 100% crop section) from quite a distance across from the Port of Anchorage. Both were shots were hand held at between 1/250th and 1/400th. I really like the 24-105L lens....more so than the 24-70L. I had forgotten how good the 300mm f4 L IS is as well.

I've got to get out and use this camera more often.

    Gary

Another from the same day, this one with the 70-200 f4 L (non-IS version) lens at 200mm. Also hand held. Another nice lens from Canon!

Scott, thank you. And that last series of yours really made me chuckle, well seen!
Gary, agree about the 70-200/4 zoom, one of Canon's best. Great colours from the 5D.

Some recent shots. First two with the 100mm Macro IS L and D7, the last two with 1DsIII and 24mmL II and 17mm TS-E respectively.

Yes, Accordion Divas are few and far between, even in L.A. I happened to find her living right across the street from me. Almost the proverbial girl next door. Now we have thirteen of them squeezeboxes living with us. People seem to either love or hate the accordion. I love the instrument.

Here are a few of my recent captures, greatly croped; all with EOS 1Ds Mk III and various lenses: Frank was shot with a 135 2.0, the Kingfisher with a 500 IS, and the dragonfly with a 180macro

Because of paperwork (yearly taxes) and other stuff I haven't been out with the camera lately, but here's one from this winter. Taken here in Trondheim, in an area called Brattøra:

Tomorrow we'll be off to Amsterdam (I hope). Really look forward to that.

If you believe the old adage "you are what you eat" then this next series will make perfect sense....

    Breakfast of Champions

No idea where I am going, but at least it is the color of a Red Bull can

    Broken Heart

Is that a really large satellite dish or a really small sports bar?

The only problem is that when the Breakfast of Champions wears off, you feel a lot like this

    Shelby,
These are very nice images. I find that the 85 f/1.8 to be a great lens. I got mine after I sold my 1.2 II and have never looked back.

It is a nice lens... and thanks for the kind words! I have to admit, though... I don't care for the "look" of it that much. It's sharp, bokeh is "nice", and af is quick... but it lacks a certain "zing" that the 85/1.2 (and the zeiss lenses) possess.

For the money, however, it is remarkable. I use it a TON.

I was actually beginning to get rid of all my canon stuff, but am thinking of holding onto it to do some more wedding work while in school these next few years... and one of the things I'm wrestling with is whether to keep the 85/1.8 (actually the real question is whether I trust the 5Dii AF enough at f/1.2... )

A few more... the men's shirts hadn't come back from the printers, so these are "blanks" that the designs are going to have to be superimposed upon digitally.

    Thanks!

Re: How about more and more fun with Canon...

I do like your work even though we work in very different areas...some of my images are posted above. My 85 f/1.2 had so much chromatic aberration as to be essentially useless before f/ 2.2 or 2.8. I do a lot of pet photography, mostly cats, and found that people are not at all amused by purple and green whiskers...' guess they just have no sense of humor! By the way, my adventures with the 1.2 were all with a 1Ds Mk III and I have never shot with a 5D so I am of no help there. Have you considered the 135 f/2.0. In my hands, it has proven to be a vastly superior lens.

I am, myself, in the process of selling all of my Canon gear and buying into the PhaseOne system, if I can work "things" out and must say that the 135 and 180 Macro are the only two items that I believe I will miss...maybe its just a "phase" I am going through.

Re: How about more and more fun with Canon...

LOL... I TOTALLY get where you are coming from. Purple whiskers are ssoooo 1980's

Yeah, the 35/1.4 was exactly the same... I loved that lens, but in strong backlight wide-open the color fringing was, um, let's say... vivid?

If my wife and I (and our three kids!) weren't going back to college this fall, I would be selling ALL my canon off at the end of July and getting straight into an RZ system and maybe a DF... but in talking to her, we've decided that the wedding work is a bit too nice (money-wise) to drop just yet given our downsizing.

As it stands, I'm still gonna get a used RZii this summer and probably pick up an older back (probably original p25 if I can find one) in august for personal work... I'm just not going to go all out.

    Thanks for the kindness!

    Something a bit "un-canon-like"... but indeed a 5dii shot.
