Louisiana Bayou?

We're off to enjoy a few days in New Orleans in 10 days time and want in addition to spend some time outside of the city in the bayou -- in particular we want to photograph the landscape, trees, vegetation, etc. in the swamps and bayou (not alligators or wildlife!) -- anyone have any recommendations as to good places to go, or better still a local photographer/guide.

Thank in advance for any advice/help.

John.

First I'd say go to the French Quarter on a Saturday. Lots of great opportunities. Artists, performance artists, and the river---paddle boats, bridges, etc.

For trees in N.O. try the Garden District and the St. Charles streetcar, which takes you past great old homes and to Audubon Park, Tulane and Loyola Universities.

Lots of old grave yards with above ground burials are interesting.

Lake Pontchartrain seawall and the yacht basin are good.

The plantation, Oak Alley, across the river from N.O. offers huge live oak trees and old plantation.

To reach the swamps, you must travel out of town-either south or west.
