The cerulean waters of the Arabian Sea and the palm fringed beaches of Kerala are the dream holiday destinations of many people. The most famous beach destination in Kerala is Kovalam. There are now many other beach resorts that are ideal family holiday destinations. One of them is Poovar which is a picturesque and unexplored place with close proximity to Kovalam and Thiruvanandapuram. This place is unique because it is enveloped by the azure Arabian Sea on one side and by backwaters on the other. A visitor can enjoy the beauty of both. Poovar tours include:

Poovar beach: this is a gorgeous strip of golden sand that is sandwiched between the Neyyar river and the Arabian Sea. It is a picture perfect beach with coconut trees as tassels. Normal beach sports are not very well developed here because of an active fishing population. A walk on the golden sands of the serene and tranquil beach is enough to rejuvenate the mind and body.

Kovalam Beach: This is the most popular beach destinations in Kerala. This beach is ideal for all who want to indulge in water sports and other beach activities. There are three important beaches- the Lighthouse beach, Hawwah beach and the Samudra beach. All these three, the most famous is the Lighthouse beach which has a sheltered bay. The beauty of this beach is captivating.

Fishing Village: There is a village near Poovar where the main activity of the population is fishing. Inspite of the moren advancements in fishing, this fishing population uses the time-tested traditional methods for fishing. It is indeed worth seeing and enjoying these simple things which seem very far from reality. The villaghe is ideal to relkax, unwind and enjoy the real taste of rural Kerala.

Vizhinjam: This is a village that is close to Kovalam. The main attraction is this place is the rock-cut temple of of the Hindu God Dakshinamurthi dating back to 18th century. It is intriguing to see this temple in this place. Apart from this, there are a number of beach resorts and Ayurvedic spas in and around Vizhinjam.
