Well, that's great, because I have one in transit (bought from a member here) and one of the Hawk's adapters, too.
perfect set up . . . pleased to be encouraging!

Once I have the NEX 5N in hand, I will ask for suggestions on focus setup. I really want to use just one lens on whatever body I settle on and get practised with it.
switch on focus peaking and enjoy!

Kit, If the 5N does not work for you, while in Italy, drop me a line. ;)

LOL!

and if you decide an M8 will do you, i know somebody who's selling a near pristine one :p
:p Well, it was a joke really, but I have decided to keep my NEX lenses until I've given the OMD a real bash.

So much to wake up to!

:))

The problem is that my 5N and Hawks adapter did not arrive in time for this trip (I was REALLY hoping). I am using the GXR here, with the CV 35/3.5 (which is sharp wide open); very nice focal length for me. So, in the meantime, I am gathering ALL INFO!

Cheers to all, KL

Yes, quite fun... makes me want a souped up X100 with the new sensor and ultra fast CDAF - lower cost of entry, specialised and optimum lens for walkaround/streetshooting, unique hybrid viewfinder.

I really think Fuji should concentrate on perfecting the X100 with latest electronics and more firmware development.

I completely agree, I think the fixed fast lens is superb! However, personally I am a 50mm sort of guy on full frame. I would be more excited if Fuji can get the X100 replacement out sooner rather than later and with a lot of improvement in AF speeds and usual rants fixed. I also think it looks beautiful as is. Size is wonderful and leaf shutter, with flash sync speeds that are out of this world. It is crazy good on paper, just fails in my hands :(

If they can dramatically improve the X100, I would pay the asking price of the X Pro 1 for one. From what I've seen so far the X Pro 1 would also fail in my hands (my phrasing is intentional :p)

Thanks, Cam. But, no.

I have a superior camera in my hacked GH-2 to do real infrared photography with better DR, IQ, MP count, pretty much everything. Besides, it is a real live view camera and I can actually see in infrared and even in ultraviolet.

The M8/M9 and such would fail miserably.

i was talking to Kit, sweetness. i know you and the M8 would never get on :D

(the guy who's selling the M8, btw, has decided to stick with the X100 after borrowing mine for a few days... there's something very freeing about a fixed lens camera!)

Would be great in all respects, if 35mm was your preferred focal length. Unfortunately, for me I like a bit longer of a lens. Even 40mm suits me better but I think the 50mm equivalent will live in the x-pro1

Cam, Quite right. :)

I have used the process of elimination to not to consider mechanical RF cameras. SLRs are almost gone as well...

i have not shot on this camera, obviously, but i can speak about going back and forth between an M and the EVF (M8 and X100 in my case) in very dim light.

the EVF was so bright as to almost blind me but, yes, i could see very clearly what i was focusing on (using AF). when i went back to the M, it was almost as if someone had dimmed the lights -- a lot. it was a significant difference. once my eyes adjusted, however, my eyes adjusted and the M was just right... and then the blinding as i changed back again to the X100. it was a very odd experience.
I missed that!

Great post, Cam!

Jono agrees with it! I thought there was something terribly wrong when he claimed that he could not see anything through the NEX-7 EVF while the dim M9 was all peachy.

Ahh Vivek - but that was in exactly opposite circumstances - on top of a mountain at over 3000 metres with bright sunshine.

Jono, Did you close the other eye while looking through the EVF?
