re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

Spent the weekend in NOLA for Jazzfest with the Xpro1. I have both it and the Nex 7 and think I will be selling off the 7 and using the Xpro1 exclusively. I really enjoy the camera and to me, it's feels rather simple to use. No complaints with AF inaccuracy as I exclusively use the EVF or LCD to focus leaving the OVF out of the equation. First try at what I call "street" photography and I find it rather cool. Couldn't imagine the fun I could have if I lived there.

A few more from the weekend. I have the 60 Macro coming this week and can't wait to see how well it does for portraiture.

My x100 developed sticky aperture blades so I decided to try the xpro 1.
Here are a few images from NYC with the 35/1.4.
    Enjoy.

    Hi Bigkidneys, great great images.

Same to you, Joe. Time to part with the X100, as the XPro-1 suits you so well!

Very nice. What do you think of the Pro 1 files compare to the X100?

    Cute, the camera is.

Seriously, I'm thinking of the Hyperprime but it is such a hulk and pricy too, so may be I should go with the Voig 50mm f1.1 instead. I will use it with Pro-1, E-M5, and Nex5N. What is your suggestion?

Trying my Konica AR lenses on the XP1. I used a new Konica AR to LM adapter from RJ coupled with a Kipon LM to FX adapter to mount the Konica lenses.

Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 mounted on the XP1. Really nice little MF 50.

    Samples

    f/5.6

    f/2.8

    f/1.7

    f/5.6

Here are a few more with the Konica Hexanon AR 85mm f/1.8. Nice compact (but heavy) short tele.

    f/5.6

    f/4

    f/2.8

Hi Teeraash, the hyperprime is WAY more bulky than the Nokton. If bulk and price matter at all, go for the Voigt...if IQ is your primary concern, go, by all means, for the Hyperprime, as it has one of the nicest OOF that I have ever seen.

Really beautiful images Joe. Fuji has some real winners with the 35 and 60 mm lenses and these shots with the 60 are the best examples I've seen from that lens.

Great photos Joe! The x pro 1 seems to suit you beautifully. I too have moved from the x100 to the x pro 1 and am feeling extremely good about it.

Here are a few 'hair' photos, from a recent trip to NYC!

Great shots Joe, especially loving that last B&W portrait.

A few more from playing around home, still haven't had enough time to get out and really put some miles on the camera. Really more just playing around...

All these are out of camera jpgs that have had some work done in Photoshop; can't wait for proper raw support - but until then the jpgs are pretty amazing.

    Thanks Carl. Cool frog.
Teerash, still too soon to make a definitive comparison with the x100.

Very nice again, with good shot angle and subject isolation. Did you just park this lens at 2.4 for all of these shots? Impressive IQ wide open.

Yup, pretty much kept the lens at 2.4.
Here are a couple more from today, wide open again.

    Really like your shots, Joe.

The 60mm reminds me of my 60mm C/Y Makro Planar.

Joe, if someone had told me these photos were taken with a Leica I would believe them. These are great on so many levels.

The X-Pro1 is the Real Deal! ... as in great camera AND great price.

    Thank you Monza and Jim.
Monza, I'm not familiar with the 60mm C/Y Makro Planar.
Seems like a good thing comparing it to the Fuji 60/2.4.
Jim, high praise comparing the Fuji to the Leica.
I know that is a good thing.

Joe, the middle two from the Library are fantastic. I didn't realize that they didn't "flip out" if someone had a camera inside.

    Joe,
Thanks for posting the variety of images.

If you do a side by side comparison of same scene/image/etc. with the H4d-40 and X1Pro, that would make a very interesting read.

That was exactly my thought (and the "fantastic" too). I'm really cautious about shooting in any space like that since so many just flat forbid it.

Thanks Terry, David, Brian and Diane.
NYC Public Library does not allow flash photography.
One area does not allow any photography.
Otherwise, no problem taking photos in most areas.
Brian, you will be quite happy with this camera.

Any tricks or tips that you are finding with the camera or lenses?

    Thanks Terry,
I don't have any real tricks or tips other than to anticipate and don't be afraid to take the shot. Sometimes it works, most times not. It really is a bit of a numbers game and the more you shoot the greater the chances of getting a decent image. Still learning this camera so at some point I may provide a bit more info. Thanks again.

I am still hesitant from buying this camera and have a feeling it is more YOU than camera. However, I cannot argue it has one seriously good sensor. Although right now I am digging this thread, since serious photographers put up with Fujis

Obviously there's the skill of the photographer, but I'm seeing something special in the best samples of the X-Pro 1 when compared with the best samples of everything else I've seen (a lot!)... I see it in the tonality of the brown leather jacket the girl is wearing above.

    I'm decided

    Cheers

I don't disagree with you there! In fact I went over to the Leica thread and came away thinking the same thing (Oops did I say it out loud!).

I don't think you will be disappointed, but I take too many pictures of my kid running around to do it without a DSLR. I'd rather come away enjoying this thread

Have only used the 18mm for a couple of days so a bit early to give a proper assessment. So far I like it, but it just doesn't have the wow factor of the 35 and 60. Hopefully I can play with it a bit more in the next few days to give you a better answer.

Ashwin these shots are really cool with WOW!!!. How do you compare the SLR 50mm on the Xpro with the M9?
