PS: Generally speaking we prefer this form of thread organization too, as it makes it easier for folks to compare and learn about older and newer models side-by-side. So as you see any new "fun with" threads arise, ask yourself if it could be better served merged with an existing, and then drop us a PM or report the post as Graham did.

    Thanks guys,

    Thanks guys,
How about doing the same for m4/3 also?

    Jack

    Looks good.

How about the 'Fun with 55-200mm' thread (which I started, sorry!) coming here too?

It would indeed be a bargain...which is why when my local dealer offered their last X-Pro1 to me for $779 ($979 less the rebate), I couldn't pass it up. The manager of the shop is a good friend of mine. I just had breakfast with him this morning and bought his LN- 14mm lens.

Before Fuji announced the $200 instant rebate on the X-Pro1, the camera was selling at B&H, Adorama and my local shop for $1,079. That's when my friend offered to knock another $100 off for me (to $979), because the camera had been unsold for 6+ months and he just wanted to move it. A couple days later, the $200 Fuji instant rebate was announced.

Now the price at B&H, Amazon has gone up to $1199, with the $200 rebate bringing it to $999.

Funny how the pricing works (not!).

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

Gary, congrats on the good buy on the Pro1.

The 14 may be my next Fuji lens. I think I'll want it for our hikes in the Sierras (among other things), although the new wide zoom might be fun for such use as well. I like primes, but I've had a couple wide zooms (16-35 L and the crop 10-24mm back in the day) and found them very convenient. 21mm (equiv) is a very good FL for me, so the 14 is on my short list. I just don't have time to use it right now, so dragging my feet. The rebate will probably prompt me to order it though. Come spring I'll have more time to get out and play.

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

    Some lovely images here.

I can't recall if I posted this here; I think not (maybe over at Fred's), but this was a snap made with the Rokkor 50/1.4 on the X-E1.

Aperture was ƒ4, but I love the characteristics of the OOF areas in front as well as behind the plane of focus. Distance about 1m, which is close to the minimum.

SOOC, cropped ~80%, AWB, focus point her left eye.

A question, if I may: to the owners of both the X-Pro 1 and an X-E1 both with the FW update, is there any real difference in AF speed? The X-Pro 1s are so inexpensive now... And what would you say the pluses of the X-Pro1 are over the X-E1 (which I am loving as a camera, BTW)?

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

    Kit,
I don't have the X-E1, but am on my second time round with the X-Pro1. I like the OVF to be honest, I'm aware of it's short-comings, but I use it "most" of the time. If I really need accurate framing, the switch is a finger away, and I do this occasionally.
If they are the same sensor, then the ergonomics are about the only difference I can see, the AF speed (or not) doesn't bother me.

X100S shot from yesterday's market series. This huge tree (poplar?) with the tree bomb scarf has some branches that look like jointed arms.

I've had my X-Pro1 for about a week now and I'm beginning to wonder if it has an unusual affinity for red subjects.

Not Ferrari reds (I wish), but old and faded reds.

Just got my new toy. Haven't had time to play with it yet, and we're expecting another snow storm here in Tokyo tonight, so I don't know when I'll be able to get out and do some shooting. In the meantime, I'll study the manual!

Graham...The B&W conversion looks great. Would you mind telling me a little about the "IR 590nm"? Why did you choose this IR range? Is it good for both colors and B&W?

A few X100S street shots taken in the snow and slush at the annual winter chili festival. I missed focus on about half the shots. I guess the falling snow could have confused the AF or is poor AF a known problem with the X100S?

Another outing today to visit antique and decor stores with the wife.. these trips are always fun because I never know what I will find to shoot.. here's three from today.

All taken with the Fuji X-E2 using the 35mm and 18-55mm. I'm a sucker for warm light and texture.

Couple of X100S snaps at a small show of some of my gallery wrapped canvas prints in the Cornell Plantations visitor center. Nice hanging system on a curved field stone interior wall near the lobby entrance.

Ambient lighting came from an etched glass wall adjacent to the hanging space.

A cold, but beautiful winter day. Walked around the park with the X100S.

A grand old button ball tree. Four shot stitch.

Cayuga Lake. The lake does not freeze over completely because of great depth and heat storage. Southern ice sheet margin is visible near horizon.

Old park boathouse (former Wharton studios during silent film era)

Steam on horizon from a coal fired power plant on the east shore of Cayuga Lake

You can save your images in the getdpi gallery and go to 1200 wide no problem.

Colour or B&W - normally it's obvious but in this case I'm not so sure!

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

No offense to anyone, but this thread of organization makes it incredibly difficult to look for shots of a specific camera model within the brand.

Those who wanted to compare shots side by side could just open two browser windows?

    Just my 2 cents.

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

That's true Ricardo....but imagine how much more difficult it is on the "Fun with Canon", "Fun with Nikon", "Fun with Medium Format" etc where both film and digital images from all models (and even multiple brands) are often mixed in together.

This thread is more about simply sharing images taken with the Fuji X-series cameras, which is consistent with those other "Fun with..." threads. Frankly, I don't think there is much difference between the images created by the X-Pro1, X-E1, X-E2 and X-T1. The differences between these cameras are more operational, than image quality etc.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Just my 2 cents.

A shot in a fabric store with the X100S. Raw converted in ACR 8.4 RC using the new velvia vivid camera profile.

Re: Fun with the Fuji X ___!

Well, I've entered the word of a non-Nikon camera. I have a Nikon D800. I wanted to give a mirror less camera a try. After much deliberation I settled on a Fuji X100S. I'm generally happy with it. It is so tiny.

The menus and controls are driving me nuts. In particular, I am tying to lock the "Command Lock" (Page 4 in the manual) Whenever I press the Menu/OK I go to the shooting menu or the playback menu.

Whatever, that is not why I am posting. I'm happy with the image quality. I'm sure the menus and controls will become 2nd nature I wanted to share a photograph I took on the day I got the camera.

This is from my daily stroll through the shot at work.
