Fun with the Fuji X ___!

Nathan,
I can see why everyone is raving about the 35mm Fuji lens. I think a Fuji X-Pro is in my future, but should I jump now or wait for the inevitable Fuji X-Pro2?

Carlos - you know that waiting for unannounced cameras is a recipe for frustration. The X-Pro1 is a great camera today that undoubtedly will be better with better ergonomics but when? And when you see the X-Pro2 there will be rumors of the X-Pro3 and so on and so on.

Im with Graham on this one :) Greta camera, and it will still be a great camera when its ineveitable replacement comes out.. but when will that be?

I have my Fuji with me in my bag on every job, If my hassy should fail me on a job that could not be rescheduled I have faith in the files this little camera produces and am sure it would get me through most jobs..... and it takes up so little space!

I think that when one does not have a Fuji XPro1 yet I would wait for the next model.

I did not get into Fuji yet, mainly because they do not have sufficient RAW support in my favorite programs and even LR did not work properly so far. This is just a show stopper for me and I cannot understand the arrogance from Fuji, why no RAW support - and I NEVER EVER will start shooting JPEG just because of that and some nice film modes which can be applied much more sophisticated in any RAW converter .....

So I am hoping that when the XP2 comes there will be also broader RAW support then and also the XP2 will have lost all the quirks of the XP1 and incorporate the latest AF PD / CD on sensor etc.

If you did not buy into another compact mirrorless system by then, it will be good time to buy Fuji!

No RAW support??? All the shots I posted above are from RAW inn lightroom.... the only time I have "problems" with raw is when I use it on landscapes with lots of fir trees... not being a landscape photographer this doesnt bother me...

Saying no RAW support is painting with rather a broad brush..

I shoot in RAW plus jpeg and rarely do I use the jpeg... I expect when the next lightroom version comes I will use it even less.. but it is a great visulisation tool when working in black and white...

So you can tell me when RAW support in Aperture will come?

I switched to AP some 6 months ago due to some other various important reasons for me. And I am not going back to LR just because its the only one major RAW converter for Fuji files.

And I would love to shoot Fuji!!!!

Missing Aperture raw support for sure, but there are work arounds. Like many I shoot raw+jpg, mostly use jpg as they are so great, but if I need it especially I can process in the supplied raw converter, LR4 or Accuraw and then import the TIFFS into Aperture.

Can't blame Fuji for the lack of Aperture support I am afraid. Best thing is to put in a request to Apple Aperture Team about it.

Didn't mean to kick off a flame war. I had seen that a new version was imminent (at least according to Nippon magazine;

This camera would become my walkabout camera with my A99 reserved for ballet and other heavy-lift projects.

I stopped using aperture years ago.... I went through several troublesome upgrades that crippled my workflow... as a working pro I dont need that.. also the lens profiles in Lightroom work... and now that Hasselblad has included the phocus module and hasselblad profiles I am even more dependent on Lightroom.
I found aperture was going more and more like an iPhoto plus...

Capture One and Lightroom, two of the biggest RAW workflow programs out there both support Fuji files.. (And they are both cross platform) yes npt perfect yet, but the new Lightroom shows promise... Fuji cant be blamed that apple seem to be more interested in iPhones and iPads than making pro software... (and I am a very loyal Apple user)

All said with a smile :)

Sad but true Nathan, Apple are leaving Aperture to wither on the vine it appears. I still love the Aperture workflow, it just makes much more sense to me than the rest.

Re: Fun With The Fuji X100s

There is a pretty long thread on the fujix forum about slow focusing on the X100s (about the same as the X100, from the folks that have both cameras). It seems that the cameras with firmware version 1.00 are focusing fast, but the ones with firmware 1.01 are focusing about the same as the X100. Has anyone here experienced this? I have one pre-ordered and I hope there are no focusing problems.
