Rolleiflex Tropical Case

This is a fascinating product. You might really really want this if you live in very humid environments.

This is called a Tropical case, as the name suggest, it is specially adapted for tropical humid environments.

The outer body is very hard, some sort of metal. The case is held together by a sturdy, almost over-engineerd hinge-grip (Photo #1)

At the closed position the handle is down and grips the fittings on the side and closes, very snuggly, the case. When you pull the handle up from underneath, over the case, it opens.

The inside edges of the case has rubber-sealing (Photo #2), so moisture is kept out as much as possible, and on the inside, what looks like a roll of film, is actually some sort of salt crystals that absorb moisture inside the case. (Photo #3)

The camera gently snaps into the little platform that is seen next to the salt container. You simply slide the camera in with the little round base that Rolleiflex cameras have, it snaps into place, and stays put.

Also, there are rubber cushions on the inside so that when the camera is folded in, and sits inside the case, it rests gently on them, and not the hard metal!

Beautiful german engineering.
