Calibrating iMac with older OS to newer OS

As a dyed in the wool cheapskate, I was wondering if I can use my i1 Display 2 calibrator with the newer OS's, Mavericks or Yosemite by booting to OS 10.8, calibrating and then importing that calibration into OS 10.9 or 10.10.
I am saving money to buy a new computer and would rather not purchase a new color calibrator now.

Try it and see?

It should work. My old profiles are still there after upgrading the system.

I know what you are saying as I am currently using Mavericks and it transferred by last profile, but I thought someone more knowledgable than I might be able to tell me more about how that profile is used in the newer OS.
IOW it is not clear to me if the new OS interacts differently with the graphics card than the older OS.
Thanks for the response, it looks color balanced to me but our brain is much to good at fooling us into thinking our eyes are seeing things as the camera is not.
