Close-ups shot on Leica cameras

Today, just out of curiosity, I tested to see if I could get a 1:1 image from the Macro-Elmar M. The answer is...almost!

I mounted the fully extended lens on a 40mm Novoflex extension ring set and it in turn on the fully extended Macro-Adapter M. As can be seen, the resulting image is about 38mm. I assume the sensor is 36mm long. In practical terms it is 1:1 image. (Note the ruler was not precisely square to the camera so there is some fall off to the left.)

Bill,
Thank you for sharing this practical information, you used the 90mm Macro-Elmar [?]. Would this be a candidate for good cam-scanning 35 mm film, or do you think the lens is slightly out of it's comfort range?
