    Kurt and Martin,

Thank you both for your respective series. Great images. They must make fantastic prints.

Kurt, thanks. After shooting for quite some time only with the MM, I must admit when I saw these stunning shoots, I instantly thought I need to grab my S again. Thanks.

    Indeed. Great series--as always.

If I may ask, what do you use for the B&W conversion? LR4 or something else?

Re: S Is For Show Us Your S2 Shots

Hi Georg, I frequently switch between using Lightroom and SilverEFX depending on the image. I really try to treat each image differently between how I want them to look. It's not that I put a lot of time into the images, it's just that I try to push each image around a little bit to see what might look best to my eyes. The great thing with the S2 is that there is so much room to maneuver with the files.

Kurt, Truly "S"pectacular images! Each one in a different way brings out an emotional response in viewing the individual(s) photographed and in 3 of the 4 images, the eye contact significantly enhances the connection. Lovely!

35 and 120 are my favorites. I also have the 70 and have just bought the Hassy 210 second hand for use on the Adapter H (initial impressions very positive). Regards, Martin

This thread seems to be asleep. Here are a few pictures from Guadeloupe taken this week. I liked the stormy weather at the Pointe des Chateaux; didn't look much like a tropical island. The last one is the Bois de Jolan beach, our favourite.

Here they are very shy...wonderfully still and patient fishers.

I was pleased to see him presented this way in the picture, as that is how I usually find them. They spook very easily, I feel lucky if I get more than a few frames before they fly off.

At first I thought he was staring lovingly at your "S"...but as we all know, it was the full size roast beef bone dangling just behind it . Guess the "S" really does stand for "Smart" dog in this instance. Cute too! Nice portrait!

Haven't used the S for quite some time, but when going to Africa, you need color.

You are right Kurt. The thing is that the Monochrom is so simple to walk around compared to the S but I'm always stunned when seeing the S files. Detail, color, rendering, tonality... really a league of its own and not mentioning how elastic these files are.

    Again, thanks for the feedback.

    Cheers,
    Pete

Re: S Is For Show Us Your S2 Shots

    Hi everyone,

I thought this weekend might be a good time to resurrect this wonderful thread to page one.

Ever since the first announcement of the S2 I've been looking at photos and reading as much as I could about the S system. Last week, I got a really good offer from a reputed dealer and now I'm the proud owner of an S2-P with the 70 CS. After one week of trying and test shooting I can safely say the IQ this camera produces, exceeds my expectations. After all the research I did, I still had not fully understood how good the files from this camera really are. Color, contrast and sharpness are incredible with very little effort in LR/ACR. I'm really looking forward to what this new step into the S-world will bring.

This thread has been an invaluable source of information to me during the past years. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Kurt, Marc and everyone else for their insight and shared photos. Here's my small contribution, just a test shot at the local flower shop, Happy Easter!

Beautiful colors Georg! It's too bad that the zoom is soooo expensive.

    Thanks, Kurt.

It's true, it's expensive and heavy. You get used to the latter and forget the former. I was also lucky that I obtained a "demo" version (not sure why Leica marked it demo because it looked like new in the box), and that helped a bit with the price.

As I shoot a lot when traveling, and as I normally travel with my family, not having to change lenses too often helps to keep everyone happy. It also means that you get more shots and can make better use of the sensor real estate. The latter was a bit of a challenge this time because on day one I discovered a sensor crack, appearing on the top right corner. Fortunately, there is a lot of blue sky in Florida which made cloning it out easy. (Leica meanwhile changed the sensor without charge, although the warranty had expired.)
