    re: Fun w/Digital M Images

For the past week, Hillary and I have been staying up till 5am, sleeping till maye 8:30... working all morning, afternoon, evening, and early morning till 5 again... just to have it all repeat. There's just so much to do in so little time!

We handed in a project yesterday and decided to take a day off today. We were making pancakes for brunch when the firealarm went off... we ran down 16 flights of stairs 'cause we smelt smoke and waited outside for a while before being told by the fire department that it was just some lady who burnt some toast and set off the alarm. We marched back up 8 flights of stairs when Hillary hurt her foot and we had to rest for a while. We were going off about 4 hours of sleep in the past night too, so I could've used the break as well. We took a nap after the pancakes... and decided to take the night off. Despite all the work due next week... we do need some time to ourselves :P We just watched How To Train Your Dragon, and made halloween costumes :P Though... job applications start tomorrow and we don't have our portfolios put together... we'll fall asleep tonight happy... but probably wake up tomorrow worrying about our coming work term.

I think these photos sum up our past few weeks rather nicely... facing annoyance after annoyance (read: deadline after deadline) a lack of sleep... and an overshadowing fear of not getting a job next term, or not doing well in school :P

These were taken with the new Ricoh GRD3 I got today I sold my X100 last week in light of the GRD. I figured I wanted a smaller, cheaper, faster-to-use camera. Plus, I could use the difference in cost towards my school fees. The Ricoh is an amazing little thing :P I can see it taking over many of my other cameras. Sorry for the lack of digital M photos lately

Nicely done, Patrick. You see beautifully, the camera's just a tool.

Great job with the shots, Patrick. I'm having last-year anxiety as well but I think it's about time Canada gets out of this slump and there should be a few good years ahead.

Haha, it's not that bad for most people, just for those of us who are graduating and finding our first real jobs... I'm actually saving money with Leica! With almost no depreciation or even appreciation on the equipment I have, it works like a fun savings plan.

Anyways, here's another one from my time in Hong Kong. M8 with Canon S-Mount 28/2.8. Not a great lens(I sold it) but does a great job for B&W.

After unseasonably warm temperatures, things cooled down and the rain fell. The resulting low clouds and fog in the mountains created a beautiful sight

Ashwin, keep up the good wor with that 90 'cron! :P

Rob.. I've never been apple bobbing before... kinda sucks Seems like Paige had a great 9th birthday! I was more of a Laser Tag kid myself.

Matt, great photos from Germany! The mountain-scapes and the shot from the top of the stairs are breath taking...

We're getting the left-overs from Hurricane Sandy right now... I can't imagine how it's like in NY.

We had a Halloween Party this weekend :P I dressed up as Cloak, Hillary went as Dagger (Marvel Superhero couple from the 80s). Great party, interesting music (a bunch of electronic remixes of the A Clockwork Orange soundtrack...) and I found $25 on the ground!

Terrific set, Matt. Love those from BMW... the b/w conversion as well.

Nice to see pix of Olympic Park. I was in Germany in 1972, but never made any effort to see the Olympics. Something I've always regretted.

    re: Fun w/Digital M Images

I've been pretty busy lately, and am way behind. I've been following the posts, and as always, what's posted here is very inspiring. Thanks everyone!

Matt: That shot of the young James Dean is a winner, as are the reworked shots from the market.

Patrick: The first group of shots had me worried for you and Hillary. Poor Hillary looks exhausted! Glad to see from the more recent posts, that there is some fun thrown in too. Hillary looks much better.

Peter: Say it ain't so!! Glad you got that replacement. Looking forward to some sample shots!

kchong: The shot on the bus is a fav for me. The mom and the kid is the stroller is nice too.

Mohammad: The shots from the fair really need to be in a book. Super work!

Edward: Very nice work on all your posts, although I wish I could see larger samples. Thanks for sharing regardless.

David: Nice shots of your son. That first one is a big fav for me. Love the processing.

Matt (from LA): Great stuff from Amsterdam too! And the B/W set (less one) from outside of Munich is extra nice. Thanks for letting us share in the trip.

Ashwin: Those portraits with the Big 90 Cron are flat out awesome. I wish I hadn't sold mine, but since I did, I won't have to prove how much more adept at it's use you are.

ced: Beautiful autumn scenes. Wonderful color. Love that second one in particular.

Cenek: You never cease to amaze me with your great eye for interesting shots... and you ability to capture what you see.

I think that covers everything I hadn't commented on. If I missed anyone, I apologize. Great work all!

    Nite all!
Maybe they're smiling in recognition of the fact that she is in fact crazy? Kids know these things.

    Nice shots too.

Moh, the carrot lady photo is hilarious!

Rob, great portraits, hope they liked them! Isn't that the friend who hated Leicas?

Matt, that car museum looks so cool to be in! Interesting space...

Lloyd, yeah she's been overwhelmed by work lately... it sucks. We all have. Our class got together to write a letter to the profs outlining all the issues we're having with the work.
