    re: Fun w/Digital M Images

And... guess what Hillary's sitting beside me right now. She starts work next week... and our anniversary is this weekend. She flew over to Toronto to spend a few days with me

We're planning a trip to Disneyland at the end of this term... no better place to meet after three months of separation than Disney, am I right? I've also never been before :P She wanted to take me.

SO... you're pretty much caught up with my life. I'll try to post more, but it'll be difficult. I'm finding it hard to edit photos everyday now... I get home at around 7:30, eat dinner, shower, and it's already 8:30... spend a few hours with Hillary and it's 10... then I gotta get ready for bed!

Anyway Gotta shower... hope you all are doing well

Oh.. looks like I started a new page.... if you're interested, the last three posts on the last page are from me

That's very true Rob! He sat there updating you guys while I read a book so it was ok it's still nice sitting beside him even when he's not paying attention to me. I'm sitting in a Starbucks now near Pat's office but my laptop is gonna die very soon... so i'll leave you with my side of our Days Apart set, I'll post some photos up later when I find a plug in Chapters xD got downtown too early and it wasn't open yet!

    re: Fun w/Digital M Images

Found a plug and a comfy chair! just browsed back a few pages and I hate to just repeat Pat but... this thread really does have some of the best photography I've seen on the web and the nicest people too I wish I had taken the time to post and keep up with this thread, it would've been a very supportive community to be a part of during such a trying term.

So since Patrick has already updated on what's happened during this past term, I'll just continue with my winter break basically spent a lot of time with family... lots of extended family meals! it's been really rough dealing with my parents though... i dropped out of contact with them during the school term and it's been hard trying to patch up my relationship with them. i became somewhat depressed during the school term and my dad couldn't understand what it's like to not want to wake up in the morning... nothing was going well and it became hard to find reasons to try anymore because even if i did, i knew it wouldn't turn out well. but despite our arguments and fights, all the photos i've taken this break reflect the kind of family relations we used to have, warm and familiar. which i guess is something i'll aim to maintain for the next three months

It's been a while since I posted from the MM here. Here are a few, with various old lenses:

    Canon 85 mm f/1.8 LTM

    Nikkor P.C. 10.5 cm f/2.5 LTM

    35 mm f/2 Summicron v1 (8 element)

    Canon 100 mm f/2 LTM

Ashwin, those old canon lenses are pretty sweet. Especially that 100mm!

Hillary and I started dating a year ago today We've been apart for almost a month since the christmas break, and knowing that we'll be apart for the next 3 months... there was nothing that made me happier than waking up next to her this morning.

This is great. A fun, spontaneous shot while at the same time a well composed semi abstract

    Hi Edward,
Lovely model you have here. Not fair, isn't it? I'm still in search for my first digital M. M9, M9P seem to dry up in Bangkok recently but I have a hunch that new M will be here pretty soon so I don't mind to wait a little longer. Will go to Singapore tomorrow and may be my M is waiting for me there! In a meanwhile, my Fuji should be just fine.

Thanks teeraash! AVcamera had a used M9 last week, but it's already gone. Maybe you can leave a message with them that you're interested in one, so that they contact you when they get another piece. I see they do get them frequently. Good luck!

Ashwin, the second shot is my fave, I'd title it "Lioness".

Ceh, I'm speechless... it's so wonderful.

Today we visited the Disney California Adventure theme park... where a life-size Radiator Spring (from the Pixar movie "Cars") was just opened last summer. Who knew fake nature can look so beautiful...

Edward, what a colorful country and you are capturing it well. I do sense your style has changed (not drastically) since you start posting here few months ago. Do you feel the same? I think you were a long time film shooter before the M9, do you feel shooting digital may have contributed?

Hi David! Thanks a lot for your comments! It's funny that you would mention this, because I was just thinking about it the other day. Indeed I do feel that my style has changed since I first started shooting with the M9 3-4 months ago. I'm sure it's related to film vs digital, as I was shooting with film RF earlier. The first couple of months was a continuation of my film habits, but it seems they have been fading away recently. I find myself chimping much more and less concentrated on the essence of the subject, while before I didn't worry about histograms and burning highlights. I just took an incident light reading and gave full attention to the subject. To be honest, I prefer my older style, but shooting style is a constant evolution so let's see where it takes me

We had a real January thaw (60 degrees over the weekend) and our snowpack is gone. Also took out much of the pond ice at the arboretum. Here are a few walkabout shots around the pond taken with the CV 21mm f/1.8 Ultron on the M-E. Click image for full size, un-cropped original. I am very pleased with the performance of this lens.
