If awslee keeps posting images like the ones on this page alone, I might even join you in that waiting list.

How the old classics appear to perform on the M is not good for my cash at all.

Pardon me for asking. Is that MM or M9? I have seen your MM images of such still life (hence the query) and this one looks equally nice in terms of the light but for the too sharp looking edges

This one is M9. I used the red, magenta and yellow sliders to brighten the roses and stalks. Yes, it is bit exaggerated to get a sense of decay. An original is here and is less dramatic. The MM would have required an orange filter.

Re: Fun with the New Leica M

Just received my new M and had the chance to use it for a couple of hours over the weekend. I thought I might share a small selection of pictures from Guernsey. I have not posted images on this forum before, and apologise for any errors. The type 240 is a lovely camera to use, and the shutter is fabulous. IMHO it is a good step up from my M8 & 9, though both of these are great cameras too. I have it set up with a RRS baseplate and grip and on this weekend just took it out with the 35mm f1.4 Asph. John

Oh, my! A Mamiya-Sekor 500 DTL. The very first SLR I ever shot, in 1968 or 1969. It took good pictures, but it had shutter noise that could frighten children several blocks away! Ker-KLUNK, Ge-THWAP.

    Thanks for the memory.

Focusing on one's little finger is a challenge, particularly with a non-macro lens.

That little finger work is amazing from the woman with the Mamiya. I just couldn't do that, it wouldn't look right, lol.

    M240 and M9 for what it's worth

FWIW, yesterday I had a chance to take a shot similar to one I'd taken earlier with the M9. Here are the shots and the conditions. Both processed in LR.

M9, 35mm ASPH, late in the day

M240, 50mm AA, closer to midday

We should probably ask if the young lady is a random passer-by, or if both she and the Mamiya are closely associated with animefx.

wow, a Mamiya. I went into the Navy Exchange in 1969 and wanted a Nikon soooo badly but working at Baskin Robbins, I could afford the Mamiya--just like that one!! loved that camera. the excitement to bring home my first SLR. can't beat that feeling even today.

To mark the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten, Peter Grimes was performed on the beach at Aldeburgh - here is a snap of the wonderful set. I'm afraid it's a stitch from a number of handheld shots with the 135 APO telyt - some at rather slow shutter speeds. No opportunity to do anything better. If you click on the title below the image it'll take you to a larger copy (you can zoom in).

    re: Fun w/Digital M Images

This is my friend Kristy and we work in the same building. We met because I saw her shooting a Canon Rebel outside one day and I asked her about it.

The Mamiya Sekor is a camera she had recently inherited. It's in remarkably good shape for it's age! I took a quick photo of her using it on one of our walks.

She also showed me a 100mm Canon M mount lens from the late 40's or early 50's. It's f/4 and only has 3 elements. I will try and get a picture of it.

Thanks for that, Jono. We just heard the "War Requiem" in Seattle. It requires a huge number of performers. So like Mahler's 8th, it doesn't happen where you live very often.

Britten was one of the true lyrical voices of the 20th century, and it's good to see he is being celebrated.

Just having some fun with Contax C/Y lenses on the Leica M-E. No RF coupling so used scale focus and a freebie iPhone app (EasyMeasure) to help estimate distance. These are all with the Contax 28mm f/2.8 Distagon.
