Graffiti believed to be Nabataean, from before 500 AD -- in the Negev desert.

These are a challenge to render, needing some HDR and attention to get the purplish-brown rock varnish color right. I used Capture One 7.1.4. M9, 35 SX FLE. Exposures about 1 stop above "sunny 16."

    Re: Fun w/Digital M Images

This is Shivta, (Arabic -- Subeita), one of the largest Nabataean cities along the incense route from Yemen through the Southern Negev. Founded before 100 AD, it flourished until about 800 AD, went through both Christian and Islamic periods before it was abandoned. Rediscovered in 1870. Visited by T. E. Lawrence in 1914.

With ruins covering an area of 300x500 m, it is now a (very obscure) national park, located close to the middle of the border between Israel and Egypt. This morning, we were the only visitors at the site.

Several two and three story buildings are found, along with three churches of considerable size.

The city had no wells or springs, but obtained all its water from collected rainwater.

In Lawrence's day, it was easier to reach this area. Here's what remains today of a station on the Ottoman train line that passes nearby.

I needed three photos for tonight's SLUG (Seattle Leica Users Group) gathering at Ashwin's. The theme was 'Chaos and Conformity'. This is 'Chaos'. M9 w/21mm f/2.8.

This is "Big Jake" and for $5 you're welcome to step up and have a seat! I had a layover in Fort Worth earlier this week and happened to stay in the Fort Worth Stock Yards area.

I have some more photos from that morning linked from the photo above.

Maggie, looks like a fun trip! I visited Seattle few years ago on a road trip and have been wanting to do it again ever since.

Magnus, beautiful color scenery... the air feel so clean!

Here are a few shots from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I don't think it's possible to take a bad picture of jellyfishes!

I wouldn't mind having a window like this in my house...

Oceanview Ave, or more well known as the Cannery Row. Now I feel obligated to read Mr. Steinbeck's book.

    Re: Fun w/Digital M Images

I had sold my M9 a couple of months back, knowing the M was coming and also I had the MM and wasn't using the M9. I had taken a serious departure from Colour. In 3 weeks I took 1300 shots trying to get my head back around it. I had to go back to design basics and finally it started coming together. I'll post a few of those 1300 or so shots, but mostly they're just messing so won't bore you with repetitive subjects in different comps (you'll be bored enough already

I'm so flattered by the likes, thankyou!

Alas, I've decided to punish you with more images, I took the M to the beach:

Mid-autumn festival (Harvest moon) we had a BBQ on the roof. A couple of interesting candids, all were either 3200 or 6400ISO!

The high ISO performance is astonishing, this is much brighter than my eyes could see it. Interesting bokeh on the 35 Cron ASPH
