    Re: Fun w/Digital M Images

Lastly I was putting an MS Optical 50 f1.1 through it's paces. It has some problems, but in general is a gorgeous, loveable, little lens. All at f1.1:

In HK it's traditional to lots of fruit and mooncakes during mid-autumn. Here's an accidental still life

High contrast, bokeh and CA's. It's soft but the eyelashes are super sharp (sorry haven't uploaded a crop but can do if anyone is interested in this lens).

It has a very short throw on the focus, which surprisingly, you can actually focus pretty accurately. The feel is a little too light. It's really easy to change the aperture by accident:

This is a lens I haven't used a lot. I added this shot to the 21 SEM Flickr group and found there are some wonderful street shots on that group, using the lens on an MM.

    Lots of great shots
Love the red Lady shot Matt - and the one of your Mom and Jane Scott - David I love the pelicans especially, and Ed, your shot heading for the farmer's market is splendid . . which leads me to believe I might risk a couple of inexcusable pet shots.

Can't let the MM guys have all the fun...

Had a sweet day out in the autumn sunshine yesterday! All shot with the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, wide open of course - with an 8x ND filter to help. Additional minor vignetting added on some (mainly those including a lot of sky). The Noctilux really helped kill the cluttered background in many of these shots, and added a real pop to the subjects.

More Noctiluvin' going on. Here are some more from a different setting, the Japanese Stroll Garden. Same setup as above, sans ND filter (since the scenes were mostly under tree cover, it wasn't necessary).

Cool shots from an uncommon lens.
Thought of getting one myself, looked at it in Japan. Really liked its light weight for its speed (faster than a lux but lighter than a cron). However I have a 50lux v2, can't justify owning both, and couldn't part with the lux..

Would love to see more, keep em coming!!

Very nice Michael. I have my 90 Elmarit-M up for sale in the classifieds here on the forum. These make me think I should reconsider selling it! (Now if I just had your eye too!) BTW, Nice review of this lens on your site. Thanks for that.

Thank you, all around! It's a really sweet lens. I've often thought of going APO-Summicron, but I can live without f/2 (or keep telling myself that). The real selling points are the compact size, 46mm filters and top-notch performance. I've actually been meaning to revisit (rewrite) that review to be much more in-depth. One of my first ones and some two+ years old now. Either way, glad you liked it!

Thanks so much! It was such a lovely day with the sun streaming through the varied plants, trees and flowers there... And it was constantly changing! I'd make one pass through the garden, swap lenses for a different viewpoint and it was a whole different experience. Small place, really - but I was there for a solid two+ hours.

Here's a cropped portion of an image (boat on the Thames) showing the 75Summarit/M9 on tripod, this lens when it nails the focus it is a gem only down side is the weird OOF regions sometimes. Click 2x on the image to see the details...

Agree, this spider web image is most definitely both lovely and I love how the shot is composed. The web, the lighting and all elements come togther that make a facinating image to look at. It goes well with the pumpkin pics Michael previous posted..now that Oct is finally here.

Michael, many of those images from the Japanese garden on L.I. are simply splendid and I have to make it a point on stopping there on my next trip to that area. Thanks for posting them.

So many other great images in this thread, too numerious to mention and although it's interesting to note which camera they were taken with, the images themselves are noteworthy regardless if shot with the M9, M240 or MM.

    Leica M/Leica Elmar C 90mm f/4.
I've just bought this lens from Germany in an excellent plus condition for only $270! It's not a bad lens at all!

Completely agree. I know some are interested in the camera (like me!) but probably the lens makes more difference?

Thanks for your kind words - and yes it could quite easily have been taken with an M9, or even M8 (and a hundred other different cameras!).
