Ashwin: I can't keep up! All four are excellent. 'White Spot', caber, daisies, and Steve Huff. Hard to chose. I'm going with the daisies. Nice relationship between the three parts of the composition. Oops, and the Leica shot.

    Cheers, Matt

Ashwin, nothing but the best as usual! Love the light in 'The Conjurer' and the light, shadows, dof, and smooth bokeh in the 'Chair Study!'

. . . . . and the shots from the Scottish Highland games are fantastic, just wonderful captures!

They also point up an Achilles heel of digital--highlights can go "splat" instead of gently fading to white, unless you underexpose and hope you've got enough info in the low end to bring up. But you know what? One of my favorites is #7, where they do blow out, but you've picked up the coating of mist around the fountain, and the posterization makes it look surreal.

As for the out of focus foreground, I assume you mean the 75 Cron shot? I think that was f/8.0 anyway, alas there is no option for tilt (and no way to predict the effect) on an M.

HAHA Dan! THis shot always makes me laugh! It's a great shot.
I laugh because I remember your response when someone at the workshop asked what she was photgraphing and you snapped back, "I don't care." with a comedian's cadence.

Another amazing set, Ashwin. Love, love, love this shot of Rainer. I really like the Ask Me pasta girl, and the stealth photographer as well. But I gotta say, that self portrait is THE BEST!!! We usually only see that stoic personality of yours.

We went bowling and had a lot of fun, for a goof I put the camera on the floor to capture the bowling ball, but then I noticed she did the hold her arms up and balance on one foot to "will" the ball for a strike, so quickly I reached down and guessed at 2.5 metres focal distance and took this shot as she twirled around!

    serendipity at its finest!
