2 early shots with the M240. Both colors and BW are sooo different. An adjustment period is definitely in order....

    Re: Fun w/Digital M Images

This time of year, in the north of France, there is a cultivated crop (also seen wild) that paints great swathes of yellow across the landscape:

I had to make inquiries in a local bar to find out that this is locally called colza, known to me as canola. No idea how they get oil from it, but it's striking:

Scott, fyi it is rapeseed. And yes, it is what canola oil is made from. I saw some beautiful rapeseed fields on the way to Stonehenge from London many years ago.

Here's something completely different. A scene from the Bayeux tapestry, showing a low point in the Norman conquest, early in the battle of Hastings, in 1066.

This was taken handheld, at f/5.6 and 1/8, ISO 1600, with M240 and the SEM 18. Had to be discreet about it as photography is discouraged even if you use no flash.

Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France. A long-range artillery strongpoint, captured on June 6, 1944 by US Rangers after climbing a 100' cliff.

The attack cost roughly 60% first-day casualties.

Too funny! I saw these guys a few weeks ago in San Diego. There was a third dog but he took off somewhere else. They didn't look too happy at all....

In the middle of our spring break road trip right now... brought my laptop so I can process the images at the end of each day. Here are some shots from Salton Sea, note all that white sand are actually fish bones!

Then we visited Salvation Mountain near by... a very interesting place.

On our way to Phoenix, passed by some sand dunes.

Day 2! On our way from Phoenix to Roswell, we swung down to visit Tombstone, AZ, which was pretty dead (maybe it's because it's on a weekday).

I was hoping to see the White Sands National Monument, but it was closed by the time we got there... I forgot to adding in the extra hour in timezone change.

Stuff from today. First two pixel-peeping tests. A new archeology center in the making, dug deep in the ground between two national museums. Overall view with the M[240] + SEM 18:

    some details with a 135 Telyt-asph:

and current blooms, also with the Telyt (it's gotten to be summer now):
