HI Lloyd - I'm really sorry to hear about your accident - really sorry. I hope it recovers sooner and better than you hope.

Love this first shot as well - excellent.

Charles, Lloyd, Bart - thanks for the kind words (ticks).
Seakayaker - the Fort Casey shadows shot works well.
soelin - the green bikes are really really good - excellent!
Gary - I like the Monkey Man - but the first shot of the little girl is even better
Charles The Rustic sons shots are clear and good - especially the second one.

Godfrey - are you trying to tell us that's you in the speedos and the socks?

    all the best
Lol, exactly my thinking, Jono. I was wondering what he was thinking, to be honest. And yes, my parents' pup is a sheltie...lovely dogs, very intelligent and kind.....

Ashwin, wonderful portrait shots of your parents! Love the shot of the sheltie! Must the Nocti! Very cool shots of the speedos

Shots from last night of the Rustic Sons at their first gig. All with the 50 Lux

Fanastic captures, Charles...Acutally, the Sheltie shots were all Zeiss 50-C sonnar...amazing lens for the price, with a character that's as tangible as the f/1 Nocti...at a much reduced cost...parents shots were with this lens too..

Just got home from skiing . . . and it snowed last night!

Tigger finally came to a sticky end in the snow:

It was pretty chilly today - Milo had to wear his coat (and so did Silas)

Not much street around here . . . but one has to do one's best!

The noctilux still delivers the goods - it gives me a warm glow, even on a chilly winter day:

Sometimes . . . forgetting to reset the white balance has it's good points.

All with the M9 and noctilux 0.95 - wide open or nearly so.

    Thanks, Godfrey, Lloyd, and Dan.

Lloyd, I hope that the elbow heals up. Despite the damage, you managed to capture a fantastic image of that chair at the ranch! One of my favorites. I like the light that you obtained here quite a bit, maybe even better than what we had 8-9 months back. Great work....

Dan, I'll shoot you an email. The 45 planar is waiting for ya! Great lens!

Thanks - indeed - Tigger was in a tree in the woods - nothing to do with us - we left him there!

    +1 on Charles's captures
    Hi Ashwin
I quite agree fantastic lens - Silas has mine
wide open it draws like a noctilux, but f2 it's razor sharp. Small and perfectly formed. Excellent lens.

Lloyd, wishing you a speedy recovery!!!
Ashwin, Jono, thanks Ashwin, wow... do love the rendering with Zeiss C Sonnar. I did try two copies, but had problems initially with back focusing on both.
Gary, nice series, fav here is the last shot
    Dan, nice composition!
Mike, nice street capture, I really like the eye contact with the bear!
Jono, really nice set! Tigger is definitely caught up, and love the shots with the Nocti!

Heaven forfend! I don't live anywhere near Venice Beach! ;-)

    Lloyd: get healed!

Was out this morning at dawn shooting with the M9. It was freezing, literally. I know I need a half case for sure ... its smooth shape and firm covering are very difficult to hold onto when my hands are so cold. Pictures later... too much to do right now.

    Impressive result for 1/3sec! Nice.

Your comment is well taken, but we've been down this road many times already. Wade through the reposts; in the end it's worth the trouble.

Went out with Godfrey and Jim Collum this morning - it was damn cold but a lot of fun

    Here's a sampling with the M9:

Thanks Ashwin. A few tough moments this past week, but we'll get there. It was fun to get back out to the ranch. My second trip since we were there last Spring. Lots of possibilities still to be explored.

The town was known as Mogador.

Scenes of the old film ' Othello ' circa 1949 shot on location here. Very many at this spot.

As was the most recent ' Alexander ' 2004.

This photo, of course, stars the D-Lux4 and its owner.

Both very nice Charles. The dramatic light in that first shot is stellar. In the second, it's the subjects who grab my attention.

    Hi Godfrey
I tried a half case, and found it worse (too fat as well). I think you just have to believe that you aren't going to drop the camera - the only time I have is when the dog ran past and put his neck through the strap . . . . Oh yes, one other time when sliding down some scree in Crete after a rather too lubricated lunch!

But I've never dropped it when I'm cold.

Lovely shots Joe . . . I assume that Godfrey was wearing his speedos and socks?

We just came home from skiing - lovely snow, good weather, but at -20C it was a tall order getting the camera out!

Scenes of the old film ' Othello ' circa 1949 shot on location here. Very many at this spot.

As was the most recent ' Alexander ' 2004.

This photo, of course, stars the D-Lux4 and its owner.
Splendid Ray - but what had you done wrong to deserve that expression

    all the best

here are a few shots of the Winter Carnival we went to yesterday , -11C but we had a cool ride of a 2 horse-open sleigh , I like the first shot a lot , and I dont even like horses! the 3rd one is my daughter and nephew, the last my brother after his death defying ride down the iced-up slide hill

Thanks for the good wishes Robert.

Nice shots. I like that first one too, as well as the one of your daughter and nephew. Great light, and wonderful color. (Glad your brother survived, btw.)

I really have to stop looking for decent glass for my Sony a900 and save money for the M9. I have 2 M6s, one excellent Leica lens, and a few old Leica beaters, but nothing beats the Leica system for me. Maybe I will keep the a900 and the 135/1.8 for my kids' various athletic events, and then eventually get an M9. If the M10 ever comes out, I am sure I will be able to pick up a good M9 somewhere. Maybe here.

Maybe, maybe not. I ordered one of Luigi's reversed leather cases with a removable back door and no additional grip. If it works as well as the A&A half case I have on the M4-2, I'll be very happy with it.

    Ahem.

    Leica M9 + Skink Pinhole f/247

I made a bunch of exposures with the pinhole ... some are quite lovely (perhaps not this one...). But they take a lot of processing not least because such a small aperture exaggerates every minuscule speck of dust on the sensor. The Lightroom spotting tool really helps make laundering these images far easier.

More photos from this session anon ... I'm way too busy right now to do justice to the processing but I might have one more I will post in a few minutes.

Nicely done! And wow, the focus zone in that one is razor thin. I'll be interested to see some more. :-)
