... Been playing around with the high ISO settings on the M8... as long as I get a nice exposure, the high ISO is perfectly usable. If it's underexposed... it begins to band ...
Same can be said of a lot of camera/sensor behavior. Most of the problems I've seen people lamenting are due to poor exposure and misunderstanding how dynamic range vs sensitivity setting works.

As sensitivity goes up, DR is decreased. Keep that in mind when you set exposure and adjust blackpoint to suit, most banding and noise issues are reduced or eliminated.

Michael , that last B+W is fantastic, if I was that couple Id be very happy to have that on the wall in my house , especially 20 years from now!

Patrick : that guy was away at a gymnastics meeting and his father got a phone call that his son was injured during a trampoline routine. The kid himself doesnt remember as he went into shock, and he was in surgery for 4.5 hours to fix 2 broken humeruses ( upper arm bone)

When I said a Phone call, all the father has received is that one call and 3 emails from the coach , so now lawyers are involved , as to the cast, his dad is an artist so he did the casts for his son :)

I thought it was cool , but the kid doesnt seem to mind at all, and he had the accident only 3 weeks ago!

Hi all,

I'm new here but have been reviewing your artistry with awe. I have a lot to learn from looking at all of these pictures!
I recently bought an M8 and a Nokton v2 lense. Really enjoying it. I'm using Lightroom 4 and SilverEffex, I'll post some pictures once I have some that are worthy!

Keep up the good work,
Rich

Been away to the sin city for the weekend and missed a lot of great posts! I do have some photos to contribute, however :) It was extremely hot in the desert, 120F during the day, and 90F at night, so needless to say, I didn't leave the hotel much, so most shots are indoor, which was a bit challenging for the two f/2.8 lenses... never knew how good I had it with the 50'Lux. Also realized that I'm a terrible "street" shooter, because I actually try to avoid having people in my shots! Something to work on...

Well, here goes, hopefully something different from the normal Vegas shots...

So the 25mm Biogon performed extremely well, but truth be told, I'm struggling with the vertical distortion a bit. I'll post some from the 28mm Elmarit later.

Vegas continued... We had dinner at the highly recommended buffet in "M" casino. Being about 15 miles off the strip, it had a bit more classy entrance lobby which doesn't try to convert people traffic into gamblers. Still have the biogon on at this time:

David - cool images. Very nice. I have the opposite problem...I have a hard time shooting without people in my frame!

Here's a couple of my lady from the weekend..

Our New Friend by Michael Hulcher, on Flickr

This was quite a relief after shooting into the harsh summer sun all day....finally, some beautiful backlighting. The grass is so much richer, colors are so much more saturated. Skin tones are just lovely...I love the late summer sun.

Looks like a nice place. Like the pix. I enjoy how that lens renders.

A bit of luck with weather, on a sailing cruise (an actually sailing clipper ship.) not a perspective of the SOL that you would get unless you were on your way to Ellis Island!

This is with 135 tri-elmar I think. Nice lens and in focus!

Also caught one of the flybys...tell me I am wrong or is that a Ford trimotor? [NOT :) ]
It circled the SOL several times (and didn't get shot down...I was ready for the F15's LOL)

I needed to 'lift' the underwing, but boy, the M9 has tolerably good DR.

Regards
Victor
