First Shots with my nice silver M9p

thank you Alan
Kristian - it looks lovely - I wasn't aware that there was a chrome thumbs up,. . . but of course it would match the M8.
I know it has it's advantages, but apart from a strap of some sort or another, I keep mine 'nude'.

Interesting serial number jumping - mine's 420523x - quite a jump! It seems unlikely that they've made 524,000 of them in a couple of weeks!

all the best

;) Who knows, Leica might be getting that popular!

Actually, a Leica representative mentioned somewhere that they've now sold the first batch of 1500 cameras and are making a second 1500 camera batch.

Sounds familiar (but I can't remember where). At least, the serial numbers have jumped around for quite a few years now.

Now that is plain sexy....need to find you a chrome Nokton, ;), but the black looks great here as well!

Best,
Ashwin
Found one on ebay for $1250 the day but considering I'll be trying the new version later this year, I felt i'd best let it go. It sold quickly. Besides my best friend just bought me a chrome 35mm Cron ASPH so I'm all happily chromed up right now. Best present ever!

Thank you - if you insist!

Camera porn :D
Really great looking porn here. I think most of the M8 and M8.2 users that are still around here, like myself, will upgrade to a nice looking M9P instead of the M9, of course mainly because it indeed seems to render much better like the pictures in this thread show!
Q: did you already rub off some of the black paint in the lettering or did Leitz do that for you :D

damn you guys. stop reminding me. i cannot justify a switch now :deadhorse:
Did someone already mention to you that you need a Silver Nokton to make it look perfect? :) Yea, I know Kristian, you want to :poke: me! Anyhow, I think I heard the black version has less focus shift:deadhorse:

I saw that silver Nokton a day or so ago but Ron was very kind to sell me one of his previously (Thanks Ron!)

Serious, that is one beautiful camera..wish I had one (the M9-P in silver) and with that 35mm chrome cron asph your friend purchased for you, is must really be sweet.

As usual, looking forward to your images.

Okay, I was going to hold my comments because I could't justify a switch to the M9-P, but...Oh my gosh that camera is incredibly sexy! That's not to say that my M9 is any slouch, but...oh my gosh that camera is incredibly sexy!

Here's a little more camera porn. I was at Glazer's Camera talking to Mark and a guy walked in and said "who's your biggest Leica fan". Mark said it's him and pointed at me (Ashwin wasn't there! ;) ). He gave us two Leica pins: the one shown below and a pre-M Leica pin that Mark took. Very cool.

Then the "camera buyer" came up and set down two boxes that were just delivered. One had an invoice with my name on it. Totally unexpected, since they just got two M9-P's last week. I was very surprised and pleased. Here it is.

ps: The Leica strap is the only one I don't immediately replace with an UpStrap. I like it

Cheers, Matt

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Not sure about the pin, but the camera looks great.
Like you I'm rather keen on the Leica strap - the luigi one slipped on as it goes well with the chrome. I imagine it'll be back to the Leica strap before too long.

Unlike you I really can't be doing with a half case - I had a nice rally one, but only used it once - horrid!

all the best

Going to a workshop this weekend; so, it will get broken in. I'm sure i can take better photos with it then I could with my older M9!

The Leica strap's the right size, and, I've never had it slip off my shoulder.

I'm curious: what was so "horrid" about the half case?

Cheers, Matt

HI Matt
The only problem I ever had with a leica strap was once, years ago, with an M8, when I picked it up and one side came undone.

As for the half case - I will list gripes:
1. it makes the camera feel fat and horrid
2. it tends makes marks on the top plate and around the lugs
3. it's a real pain in the bottom changing batteries
4. either a) it doesn't protect the LCD
or b) it has a gross flap hanging off it.
5. the camera looks better without it

to summarise, it doesn't really protect the camera, it feels and looks nasty and it's a pain to use.

otherwise they're fine :ROTFL:

The chrome looks a bit fatter compared to black ones but that's just illustration tho.

They both look really sexy but i prefer chrome with chrome lens or black with black lens/chrome lens.
