I would not use the Kodak grey card for any type of White Balance it was not designed for that but really only metering. For white balance the passport is a better tool or a card designed for WB, the Kodak grey card from memory has a yellow bias.

I've heard of the WhiBal card ... small, balanced to be neutral for both gray card and white balance uses.

Yes, that would actually fix all confusion. Then you can use it for both WB and light metering.

Search on the B&H site for "gray target" ... there are several diffusers that you use like you do an ExpoDisk. Whether they're as good or not I don't know since I've never used any of them.
