Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Finally some posts with the MM. My daughter had her High School closing ball. The weather was poor (gray sky and rain) and so I left the M9 at home and too the MM. Loved it. Here are a few samples from that evening. All either with the 50 lux or the 28 cron. I put the camera on auto ISO 125th and 5000 ISO and on aperture priority. Worked liked a charm. Focusing got a bit more challenging after a few glasses of Champagne

PS. My daughter is the one on the lest on the first photo. He sister is on the same photo on the right. The others are from her class.

I still haven't had a chance to really shoot with the Monochrom, but your work is inspiring.

same processing as the aerials; SFX is a very efficient editing environment, although sometimes difficulty to maintain smooth tonal gradation (maybe pushing the images too hard...)

    plus sensor dirt...

I think partially it's becuase all the girls are focused in one particular direction while "that" girl is straing straight at the camera...so in that sense, she stands out.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Wow, the hits keep coming (meaning the great shots in this thread are endless!). Dave I loved your series of carnival shots....gave me a great sense of "place" of which I've experienced quite a few of these county/local type fairs. Jono congrats on the return of your camera and an auspicious beginning to a new round of wonderful images. I bet you name was written on that camera from the very beginning (cause you probably carved in "Jono" inside the battery compartment knowing someday it would be yours again...LOL!). As Ashwin said, your initial use of the camera is probably what sold the MM to so many.
