Here is one more from yesterday :

May I just take this opportunity to thank you for all your likes and your comments, it really means a lot to me :-)

The photo's and comments on this web page were what gave me the final push to go for the MM rather than the M240, coming from an M8u i got a year ago almost to the day. One of the best decisions I ever made. All the positive feedback from you is quite humbling and very much appreciated.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

These images brought to you by the Leica M Monochrom, the Leica 90mm f/2.5 Summarit-M, an orange filter and the letter "B".

I don't take this lens out very often as I'm much more of a 35mm or 50mm kind of guy, but I do love the way this lens renders. It is somehow soft, but sharp at the same time.

    As always, minimal post.

You definitely made the right choice with the M Monochrom, and clearly you have mastered this very challenging camera.

    Woody,

Love that Noctilux, sadly I can't justify the cost for one. There is just something magical about the way that lens renders.

I thought for a moment these were monochrome versions of the photos you posted in the Digital M thread, but I see they are different. I do prefer these in B&W.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Ahh, around a University, everything gets to be close quarters... Industrial, transportation, apartments, and homeless all within sight of my work parking lot. These are busy tracks, I hope they like being woke up before 7 AM. Maybe all hours, who can say.

Working on tonality of things, how am I doing?

Got to work on skin tones though...

I'm SO loving that. Back in the day, one of my favorite wet processes was lith film - making contact "prints" with the negs, blowing out the greys, then finally printing that. Came out just like this.

I so cannot wait until next week!

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

It's been a really nice feeling to rekindle the rangefinder experience, it had been more than a month I couldn't shoot with it because of what the typhoon has left us last November 8. I had to relegate the photography tasks to Micro 4/3s as the security in our place (Tacloban) is not that safe until now. When I had the opportunity to shoot in Manila, I made sure I brought the rangefinder. Here's my small share from the streets of Manila...

Dave, I've not shot much street photography so no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I have to say I love the shots you produce.

There's such a lot of complete rubbish taken in the name of street, photographs that happen to be taken on a street don't to my eye equal street photography. Your shots feel like a social commentary, they tell me what daily life is like, they feel like they are really capturing something. Sure that will have something to so with the fact that I haven't been to Manila but I have no doubt you could shoot anywhere and I'd feel the same.

From a non street photographer, truly great!

Mat, appreciate your kind words, it's good to be inspired nowadays especially after what have had just happened back in our homeland.
