Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Haven't been posting my 'parkscapes' here lately – but I'm starting again.

I tried to 'Like' some photos here, especially Dave's and Vivek's, but the Like button doesn't always work?

Something to do with the javascript.

FWIW, I think "Morning Jo" focus is off.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

I’ll go for the new Monochrom because of live-view and ‘focus peaking’. I’m nearly aways shooting at between 0.7 and a meter and have to cover focus shift errors by stopping down. the ‘peaking’ thing should save me about three stops and less noise.

Shot again today in very dull weather.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

"Peaking" is a white elephant and frankly useless. Focus magnification, OTOH, combined with liveview is the real deal and is very, very useful.

You are very welcome! Not a big revelation that you would have found out immediately.

Your images continue to inspire me (even if only the tonality part) are a constant reminder what a powerful tool I own. I would look forwrd to your MM2 images as well.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

For me and the work I do on the streets LV is something I have NO interest in. I have no need to upgrade unless the MM dies and Leica stops fixing them. A lot of my street work I use DoF scales and fast shutter speeds.

Got out for a while earlier today

Jono, Those spots- do you think they can be removed successfully by a sensor clean? Normally this will be a redundant question but has become important as we are dealing with $7500 camera.

Yes Vivek very easily - I was just being lazy. I don't usually shoot at such small aperture, so they don't show up - probably a blower brush would get rid of most of them. These two shots were at f11 and quite heavily processed.

    Hi Jono,

Please do us all a favor (in light of the sensor cover plate issue) and show us pictures with a cleaned sensor (or better add to the articles in the front page)

    Sorry about the distraction.

    HI Vivek
the cover glass on this is the same as the M240 - I clean my sensors periodically (and successfully) in this case I've not cleaned the monochrom sensor yet, but there simply will not be a problem cleaning it. (It will have to wait until the weekend however, as I have no sensor swabs here and the nearest dealer is 200 miles away!).

As for why it's dirty? I live in a 400 year old and very dusty house - and I'm lazy about lens changes, so my sensors always get dirty.

    Not an issue.
