Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Really interesting, Steve. His wide-open eyes suggest he's just seen his life-story revealed in that tangle. Nice light too.
(Not so sure about the magenta tone/color cast, though.)

I realize this is cheating, since the photo below is not from a Monochrom but of a Monochrom...

It's been almost a year since I tried a Monochrom for the first time (and a Leica for that matter) at the Silo City workshop. Been thinking about it ever since. I have some M lenses for my a7r, so getting a used Monochrom made (some) sense for me in that I have two camera systems with one set of lenses! A fellow forum member had one with ~250 actuations; looks brand new. After a few days I'm having loads of fun with it. The apo summicron 50 asph seems a perfect match.
:)

Up to this point I've just been running around the house trying to learn the metering characteristics and focusing. Although I love the focusing, I am finding the same thing many others have; if there is a small amount of bright area in the frame it will tend to get blown.

All I'm getting so far is the "put it down let's go for a walk" stare.
