Leica Q video tip

I have been enjoying my Leica Q as a carry around camera for stills, and interestingly shoot with the 35mm crop factor in place most of the time. I like that I can see around the frame lines, and 15Mp is enough for nice BW prints on my wall.

I shot a short video the other day, and to my surprise the 35mm crop stayed in place and I still captured a 1080p movie. I tried the 50mm crop also, and the capture was still 1080p! Unlike the still images, video is 1080p HD capture in all three frame choices. Bravo Leica! OIS turns on automatically also, even though I have it turned off for still images.

Now if they would upgrade the codec and control during video, this could make me rethink my Sony A7x system which is what I use for video projects.

Auto iso, f2.8, and 60th. Seems a bit dark, but it is straight out of the camera. I used 28, 35 and 50mm crops and put the camera on a small tripod. Audio is using the Q mikes, but I wish there was a 3.5mm jack to add a small shotgun microphone.
