Insured shipping costs can get expensive pretty quickly!
I second this. Just had a new MFD system shipped to me and insurance amounted to 1.5% of value... Worth factoring-in to the equation from the outset...

Again, sorry if my comments came across harsh. It seems your camera may have had some serious work done, plus if you are in UAE I imagine things could get pretty costly, especially for shipping?

Whether it be high end cameras, audio or automobiles, service is not inexpensive. Part of the expense is maintaining the brand image. You wouldn't expect to pay $29.00 for an oil change on a new Ferrari or Bentley. Another reason is that high-end products tend to be far more complicated than less expensive, entry and mid level counterparts. So, you pay for the salaries of the specialist technicians that complete the repair. The old saying: You play, you pay.

If the sensor glass was replaced, and all of these services were included, and you needed a new lens shade ... and you approved the quote ... :salute:

Good thing that the sensor itself wasn't damaged ... thank your lucky stars.

Good shooting to you!

I just found this thread in a Google Search to see what kind of money I might be looking at to replace the glass on my Aptus 75....I have a few faint scratches that are causing problems. Just got off the phone with Mac Group...$1100.00 to replace the damned thing. This for a back that is barely worth $10 grand nowadays....

Sorry for your problems, standing in the middle of a river or edge of the sea always makes me cringe realizing my gear cost way more than the vehicle that drove me there.

I know it is expensive but a insurance policy against damage allows you to budget a flat rate and avoid the shock. If you routinely shoot outside a studio it is a must have. In the US, NANPA has a group policy that is a little more reasonable.
