I was just wondering about this - is there not another question to ask with regards to moire - "was it there in the original scene?" ?

Interesting to see this level of moire in a landscape/architecture shot. It's the peril of the bumper sized sensor pixels. I've only had this happen once with my P25+ in nature and that was with a boat wake taken high up from a distance. That was nasty pattern moire too.

I am in generel terms very happy with the Aptus II 5, but the two headaches I fight regurlarly are moire (interiors with furniture fabrics) and poor performance outside base iso (mostly when doing 10-20 sec exp).

Here's the only outdoor example I've had with that sized sensor (SK 35 or 47 with P25+):

If the moire was naturally there though (i.e. two overlapping patterns interfering), would you consider attempting to clean it up in the image?

Actually I'd print it and see if it was visible or not.

In this case my moire was pattern moire in a test shot but C1 couldn't fix it with the Moire tool. However, you have to pixel peep in a long way to really see it. I've never printed this image so I really don't know how severe it would have been in reality.

However, at the end of the day it is a definite consideration with the 9um sensors and no surprise to those that use them, just as Dan mentioned. I don't see it with the types of things I shoot with my P25+ so equally I'm not skilled at fixing it either. I'm sure that anyone shooting fabrics and scenes that do show it often is probably proficient at avoiding it or fixing it.

Confess, Dan, you put that gum there....

I took a long walk at the wrong time of day and got little for my efforts save dehydration and the abstract building detail below. Very depressing. But this morning was better.

Damn...caught! you can see it happening no, me setting up the camera carefully to get everything in absolute perfect balance and just before pressing the shutter I look up and think. Hmmmm, boring...something is missing...the gum. Jump the seats, take out the gum from my mouth, nail it with my right thumb right into that specific seat and jump back. A quick nod in confirmation and then press the shutter just to mumble to myself looking at the review screen....Yea, got it...

And then taking the gum off the seat and putting it back in your mouth to try another setup somewhere else in the stadium...

    Seen it all before.

    Evening all,

I've been reading and absorbing great stuff on this site for ages now, thought it was about time to get involved a little further.

Here's a quickie from a recent trip up to the North of Scotland to enjoy the glorious weather, I very nearly got caught in a traffic jam, 2 coaches and 4 cars, crazy! STC, 47mm and P25+

    Thanks for looking

    Mat

Yep the first one is IR using an opaque 720nm filter, 20 second exposure...

IR film was a favourite of mine when shooting film in years past, Kodak HIR and later Efke 820 were always to be found in my camera bag. It's nice to be able to continue creating this style of images following my switch to digital...

Lovely shot Dan, I also like how your present your images, very nice!

Where in Sweden do you work? I've just bought a place up in the North and it's a fantastic spot to retreat too.

Here's another shot of mine from earlier in the year, South coast of England.

Been visiting Glacier National Park since late Monday; these were all taken this morning with the Cambo WRS/IQ160 and Schneider 35mm. First blush on the processing is on a laptop - the real work won't be until I get the files in the studio.
