Having a little feedback on this post (here), we setup the lights again, this time moving the lights to the left.

I actually quite liked it in colour after the adjustments.

Then after shooting the images above on 35mm and 8x10, we used an almost identical setup to shoot a couple of portraits.

Peter - sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I left Carmel and entered an area of little to no internet access then came down with the cold from hell. I'm just beginning to feel somewhat human again and have begun writing again. The Groundglass is a revised one from the one I had years ago and the viewing hood/loupe is new. I'm in the process of finishing up a blog entry which includes a 2-minute video of actual use. I'll post the written portion here however I'm uncertain if the video and be posted as well.

    Re: Technical Camera Images

Remember that fireworks shot I did at New Year's with the HCam, 17mm TS-E and IQ180?

Well, HH Sheikh Hamdan (Crown Prince of Dubai) posted it on his Instagram account and called it "the best picture of the new year", which was nice enough - Photo by faz3 • Instagram

He asked for a full res file, which I thought was going to be printed to hang on his own wall, which would have been cool (he has another of my images printed 8 meters wide!).

Turns out that wasn't the idea. He had it printed over 2m square, mounted on glass, and then presented it as a gift to the Burj Khalifa.

It's now on permanent display as part of the "At the Top" experience. Thousands upon thousands of people walk past it every single day on their way back down from the 124th floor observation deck. I saw it myself for the first time earlier this week -

Everyone stops and takes a photo!

To say I'm chuffed would be an understatement

I have to say - the print quality at this size, even from a 17TS-E, is very, very good indeed.

I love the 55mm APO-Sironar on film, how are you finding it holds up on digital at the edges of the IC?

    Re: Technical Camera Images

I am trying to educate myself here. What do you see as the most likely commercial venue for these beautiful images; books or art galleries (other?).

I ask, as I am working to solidify an incompletely formed impression that visitors to many contemporary galleries that feature the work of current artists - not the secondary market galleries like those seen at AIPAD - seem to purchase images of the scenes with which they are familiar, either areas near their home, or as reminders of areas that they have visited, like Hawaii or the Grand Canyon.

I would very much appreciate anyone's favorable or unfavorable experiences in finding the best fit for exhibiting and/ having their art shown.

If your art is being shown, or you are currently being represented by a gallery, in the USA or Europe, will you please let me know, so that I may better understand what art fits well, and where?

I just put up a little blog post about last Fall's Monument Valley PODAS trip. I had an awesome time on this and here's one of my faves...

Arca Rm3d, IQ 160, Lens? Prolly either the 43 or 55. This was mid-morning, there's a bit of exposure blending for the sky, I'm particularly happy with the little moon.

    Ben,
All that is involved is, some marbles, paint, a canvas, some lighting here and there, good timing, and a little bit of luck

Here is a crop of the same photo:

    Re: Technical Camera Images

    Hi

Took a trip to New Zealand - Great trip, nice people and so so clean!! What was amazing was the dynamic of the clouds and the way the clouds matched the landscape. Most of the shots were taken on South Island - with a Cambo and IQ 180 with a 40mm Rodenstock and a 5DIII with a 24-105. These were from the Tech. This was my first outing with the tech and really like it and look forward to becoming competent. Is a bit of a shame the fine details are not apparent on the jpeg - I uploaded them at 120 ppi. These I guess these are sorta like calendar shots - I want to shoot more close ups in the future, I am enthralled with the potential.
If anybody can help me to with instructions how to upload so the images are larger - I would surely appreciate it.

After seeing all the great close up work that shortpballer has been posting with his tech. camera, I decided I needed to give it a shot. Flowers are more easily accessible and this Phalaenopsis Orchid had flowered so it made a good subject.
