That is the trouble with many interior objects . You can't get to the point for shooting , you would like to . And then , you always have the feeling , the shot is only a compromise .
A good series of interior shots . I like them .

Thanks, Jürgen. I live about 25 miles from the downtown Baltimore, its nickname is 'Charm City.' Unfortunately, it has seen its heyday and many people's introduction to it were through 'The Wire', a hit HBO series depicting the problems of inner city.

The city has many architectural gems in differing conditions and I have decided to highlight some of its beauties.

    Re: Technical Camera Images

SK72mm f/16, Aptus 75, Linhof Techno. Processed in RawTherapee. Shot in Muddus national park in northern Sweden last week.

I took great care in the shot to not have any sky visible through the background; by standing on higher ground and shifting down the horizon is above the frame. A minute earlier there was evening light on the tree, but I preferred this version. It's the shape and pattern I'm after so pretty sunlight would just draw attention from the composition. F/16 provided me with the DoF I wanted, a slight blur of the background to provide some depth in print (too subtle to be visible in the lower res attached image).

    Re: Technical Camera Images

    Hi
Not exactly what we are used to seeing, this was an old Police Barracks in Shanghai in the 1930s. These were shot with the Cambo/IQ180/Hr28, HR40, HR70 - They were shot on two different days.

Visually its pretty intense. I think I need to work on several of them a bit more to convey that feeling. (also have to feel better about the "color caste" how much is natural, my friend shot some film and we also have some Canon shots to compare). - I measured the images in both CI and PS and the shots were taken with an LCC and the 28 with a CF.

From the street - looks just like any other building, until you walk inside the court yard. The people that live there were very friendly with one noticeable exception. Most have lived there for going on 40 - 50 years.

Exceptional photos, Phil, particularly the second one and the b&w. With regards to work on the photos, I tried some modest sharpening on the second. USM in PS, first 75-0.3-0 then 5-50-0. Increases the intensity, at least for web display.

    Re: Technical Camera Images

Here's another shot from Muddus National Park.

SK35mm, f/16 and tilt, Leaf Aptus 75, Linhof Techno. Grad filter to control the bright sky.

I got to use my new Lee Sev5en grad filters, really small and compact, and does work with the SK35 within useful shift ranges.

Tilt is not so often needed for wides, but sometimes it is, like here with a low camera position and high horizon. Still f/16 was required to get a wedge covering the treetops, but to get the foreground within DoF without tilt I would have had to use f/22 or smaller.

As usual I made the LCC with the grad still on so I cancelled it out in post-processing and applied new light tonemapping (which includes a virtual grad), ie the grad filter is only used for getting a better exposure in the field. Naturally the dark treetops become a bit noiser as they are under the dark part of the grad filter, but the foreground has excellent signal/noise ratio. As the trees have finer "random" details and kept quite dark noise is less disturbing there, so I find that using grads work well in most cases to get nice single-shot exposures in difficult light conditions.

Especially when there are all those straight lines. It's hard to get that from a tripod.

Great shot Torger. I have the Lee RF75 system but haven't tried to use it on the SK35. Might be worth a shot.

No Sinuhe . Not very much practice , as I always hated the SWC release button .
The ALPA TC with the 35mm RODI attached feels much better in my hands and the shutter release is much softer . That makes HH shooting easier .

    Re: Technical Camera Images

I was hired to photograph a beautiful coastal area for a Land Conservation Trust. I made the images during my 4 day stay on a truly stunning property. Here are some of my favorites.

The color in the sky did not last long at all. I could only get 2-3 exposures in and it was gone. Being closer to the equator makes shots like this much tougher because the sun tracks quickly up since the trajectory is almost overhead instead of having an incline like in places north. The good light is gone quickly and the saharan air layer ( SAL ) is present this time of year making distant landscapes a challenge. The location however is stunning.

some tech details: All are single image captures. I used a Tiffen glass .9 ND grad in most. I only used the 40mm HR lens (@ f11) on the Arca with the IQ160.

Added a few "behind the scenes" shots.

Reminds of a similar sketch by Dudley Moore and Peter Cook.

    Bicam III, 35mm, 1 shot, IQ160 handheld!

Sometimes a 35mm is not enough, and no tripod to do a stitch
